maelzoid
I dedicate this post to all the naysayers. This album is a legit classic.
Minilla
On land and in the sea by Cardiacs. Cheating a bit because it's a favourite, but it is also a classic. Tim's songwriting and the influence the band had are pretty important, even if they never really hit mainstream consciousness. Bit of a marmite band. Classic lineup, slightly easier to get into for normal [non Cardiacs fans] folk than some other albums, and absolutely belting from start to finish. Miss you Tim, we still need you!

sirjonnyp
Leftism - Leftfield I think of it as companion piece to DSotM in the way that it captures an era seemlessly and was actually made better by being a whole piece on the CD format

Very early Cardiacs fan here (they were an 11 piece band the first time I saw them, I think). I even had the very-original tape* of The Seaside till a mate borrowed it and it was never seen again; I still have a v2 copy. (*they lost the masters. Later versions were a full re-recording) Edited March 18, 2020 by eFestivals

zero000
Loveless. One of the greatest guitar records of all time. My hearing still hasn't recovered from seeing MBV.
Minilla
@eFestivalsWere you at the legendary Mare's Nest vdeo gig? What a day that was. My big flower shirt from back then is still just about hanging on, only worn on very special occasions now. Favourite Cariacs memory? Mine was seeing Steve Davis down the front at the Astoria, didn't know at the time he was actually 'interesting'! First saw them supporting Here & Now (who didn't turn up) in Guildford, and next at the (old) Marquee. The very lovely wife bought me a big flower shirt for xmas, so they're still available.
