Out of upvotes, you deserve a wheelbarrow full.

Can't thank you enough and next time we're in a field in Somerset again, swing by our place. Beers on me.

Thank you. It’s been such a strange week that I just felt like I needed to add my bit. The NHS gets some stick but I feel quite proud to be a part of it this week.

The NHS is the best thing about The UK.

I think the sensible thing would be to cancel.

Frontline health care professionals will be stretched to the limit , why add more stress to the pot  ??

Even if peaked by June there will still be the hospitals under stress, plus all the op cancellations that have had / will be re-scheduled even if the best case scenarios come to fruition.

Morally it's the right thing to do IMO and better sooner rather than later .. Some things are more important.

I  think the scientists etc are calling it right  but why put more of a strain, lets face it there are always a lot of casualties at any festival that are self inflicted and need medical help quickly so why add more casualties to an already over stretched health service.

I have a ticket and probably will not go next year so if it's a refund then so be it .. but lets put everything in perspective a little

I feel like it’s a rite of passage to at least have one comment on this thread. I’ve been trying to avoid coming here but it’s like slowing down for a car crash, I can’t help Myself. As someone who works front line in the NHS this is a very surreal time. We’re just starting to see the ramp up of people who are needing intensive respiratory support and we’re struggling even now. Even last week I thought that what was happening in Italy and elsewhere wouldn’t happen here, now I’m not so sure. We just don’t have the capacity or specialist equipment to cope with the influx. Most people will be fine but even the 1% getting ill in a period of one month is bad news. It will come but we just need to do our best to drag it out. As such, I struggle to see glastonbury happen now - we might be ok by June but the call has to be made soon and I fear that’ll be next month at the latest. And I’m ok with that - some things really are more important and as much as I was looking forward to 5 days forgetting about all the shit that we’ve had to face this last year this is a global crisis that we’ve never seen before. Peoples lives will change, business will close, we’ll be talking about this for years but let’s just hope that we’re all back here looking forward to 2021.

I’m an ICU nurse, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
I’m in NZ, we’ve only had 5 cases so far but we’re well and truly f*cked if we have have a big outbreak.

Ive been truely worried about this since it first started coming out in the news - you really can’t grasp the gravity of looking after these people unless you’ve done it...obviously I’ve not looked after a Coronavirus patient (yet) but I’ve looked after plenty of ARDS patients and it’s a complicated, long process that requires A LOT of resources ... staff, equipment, drugs .... at times multiple nurses to manage one patient ....

Delaying the onslaught is imperative, as I said before, this is what everyone has a social responsibility to be doing for the greater good of everyone

Festivals in South America are now cancelling or postponing, including Estéreo Picnic Festival, Colombia, Lollapalooza Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Their case rates are lower than the UK.

I just wonder if this impacts internationally?

Yeah. Two experts in total disagreement in regards to the UK's current plan.

Shocking stats from that NHS workers survey.

Not making for great watching this.

Off the back of what I've just watched I would say glasto 20 will not happen; this year is going to be like no other pop pickers....

I wonder if all the summer festivals are cancelled, whether most of the acts will roll over to next year? It's going to impact everyone and if they're all cancelled, acts won't be touring. Would probably make sense for all those touring with new albums to just be moved to the following year's lineups I guess.

Thinking acts like Macca and Ross might not since they seem more off, but Taylor and Kenny will be wanting to tour their new albums eventually.

Has everyone given up?

We’re in March, the festival is June. Yeah the virus isn’t going away but the world isn’t going to stop forever.

We have a rough few weeks coming up. I don’t deny that however the virus is going to peak and things will start to get back to normal.

Don’t let the fear beat you.

Yeah, dont listen to the NHS or ICU workers, listen to someone called Squirrel Army who posts about how the government is lying to the people about the name of the virus to avoid panic.

I’m just not one to be easily beaten.

As far as I’m concerned the festival is going ahead as planned and I’m going to be building up the hype till that Wednesday morning in June when I walk through those gates!

Although this quote doesn’t help your lungs, it sounds like it will be much more harder to spread via surfaces, in the summer like June

Professor Hunter said: 'Heat does kill viruses. If you heat something up to about 60°F (15.5°C), it's likely to die in minutes. Similarly UV light will inactivate the virus and we do know if you look at the survival of these viruses on surfaces, the death increase as temperate increases.

'But you can’t rely on that to protect you. Your lungs are about 37°C degrees, and with a temperature it’s a little higher. If the virus was killed by heat, we wouldn’t get ill.'

Dr Head said: 'There has been plenty of discussion around whether coronavirus cases will decline as we head into the UK spring and summer.

'There are also plenty of cases in south-east Asia and the Middle East, where there is high heat and humidity.

'So, we do not yet know if cases will decline as the summer comes, but I think this is unlikely to happen. '

The predictions are that the outbreak will peak in 2-3 months time. By then I believe most of us will have far more things to worry about than Glastonbury. If it happens then great, but I'm ow not expecting it - and even if it does I don't expect the likes of Diana Ross will risk coming
