You also need gaps for smooth crowd changeover - otherwise you could have 5000 people watching a band in John Peel, then with 2 songs remaining 5000 new people come along ready for the next act, & come the end of the set you have 5000 people who can’t get out, & 5000 people who can’t get in. Yes. There is a reason why we've gone from having 10 acts a day in 2007 to 7 acts a day in 2019, and it's not time. They could, feasibly, drop all the changeovers down to 20-30 minutes and fit more acts in that (much more workable) way but that's not happening either. wro_lap
There’s no need for a second Pyramid lmao. What makes it so brilliant is its individuality. We already have the Other Stage, which almost acts as a second Pyramid. I reckon the consistent calibre of acts on Other is better than any other U.K. festival’s main stage. Completely agree, apart from some headliners the Other Stage can most of the time be matched with Readings main stage. For instance, with what was meant to be last years Sunday line up of Billie Eilish > Dave > Courteeners > Prodigy, would not look out of place as a Reading line up. Yep. Other Stage is much stronger than Reading’s main stage tbh. For example the Wombats playing around 3pm on Other but 3rd down at Reading. as you say, Reading pulls out some headliners that would be too big to headline other, but generally OS is a much stronger stage. Other headliners are typically the size of a huge reading sub or a smaller headliner/co headliner.

Its a prominent thing in the u.s. for radio festivals so they can keep the event going non stop. Friday night, 9pm. Kendrick: “What’s up Glastonbury? I hear it’s your 50th?” ”50, that’s numberwang! Let’s rotate the stage.” Chris Martin: “Hellooooo...”

august1
2 acts both headlining the pyramid at the same time. Crowd wear headphones and decide which one to listen to like a silent disco. Alternatively all acts headline all the main stages in 15 minute slots. Probably will need a couple more acts than stages to allow for transport time between. Every in the crowd has a key pad and once a certain percentage hit the skip button, the artist moves on to the next track

I think it’s nothing more than the additional 7,000 festival capacity this year - almost certainly a health & safety agreement to allow it.
