I remember seeing Beans on an afternoon at an early SGP, him and Frank were both due on at the same time the next day, in between songs he mentioned he was a bit gutted cos they were mates and he'd liked to have watched him. I remember he said: "If you want to see a proper good show, go and see Frank tomorrow. If you want to see a man who's stayed up all night doing everything he can get his hands on, come and see me." Got the beans book recently, it’s a great read. Won’t spoil it for you but some great glastonbury anecdotes. Looking forward to seeing frank in his spring tour and hopefully at the festival as well.

I was thinking that as well but remember at that tender age I was into led Zep, Floyd, deep purple, Bowie and pretending to understand what King Crimson were all about! So decent taste isn’t the preserve of the twenty somethings. RAF great coat, hours in virgin records and hmv stores, latest album under my arm, bum fluff chin, jumpers for goal posts etc etc etc ! And thinking about being 16 soon.

The reason I ask is my daughter is going this year, and she has just turned 14. She is really excited, but nervous as well. Happy Birthday 🥳😄

I might have to search out the Beans book, wasn't aware of it until you mentioned it. I saw Frank at his recent tour which was acoustic and a bit stripped back. Was one of the best gigs I've ever seen him at (apart from last year's Avalon headline slot where I was lucky enough to dance with him during Four Simple Words. Nothing is ever going to top that!) What's the chances of him being back after being there in 19? I'd love him to be there as I only managed to be on the path leading into Strummerville for his "not so" secret set so I basically missed him. Had no chance of seeing his Avalon set but 1 of my group was raving about it at work the next morning which didn't help my hangover.

Highlights were The Cure, The Killers and Foals' not so secret set. I went to a couple of sets on my own as my Dad @Kim Wrong-Unwas doing his duty taking my 11 year old sister to George Ezra and Dynamo. After a day or so I knew my way around. So pleased to have discovered Glastonbury and that we bagged tickets in the last couple of minutes of the sale for this year. Before I went I couldn't understand when people said they would go irrespective of the line up but now I've experienced it I would love to go any year whoever is playing. 3

Sounds very similar 😀

Sounds very similar 😀 You'll have a ball I'm sure. One or two compromises of course but everyone had a great time and got to see most of what they wanted to see. We even managed a trip around the naughty corner on Friday night before catching the end of Jon Hopkins. One thing that helped was a couple next to us at the Foals set giving my daughter a couple of plastic pint glasses to turn upside down and use as stilts for a better view. She made good use of them for the rest of the weekend especially when stood with our backs against a barrier or sound desk (which was also good for sitting down between bands). Of course that was a few decades ago and reckon the festival now caters more for kids. So enjoy the festival with yours, it's giving them and you an experience of a lifetime! I would encourage all parents to do the same. Edited January 7, 2020 by Ayrshire Chris
