I'm wondering if there's anyone from the Greater Glasgow area who doesnt suffer spinal spasms whenever they remember that there's a band actually called Bear's Den.

Similar vibes from this offering that passed under the efests radar last week. Actual Bishop Briggs for fuck's sake.

So new albums out, what have we got?  Future Islands and Metz are the only ones I've got on my radar today, anything else? Two new tracks from Smashing Pumpkins as well, feels like they're going to drip feed the whole album at this rate!

I've also got Doppelgangaz (hip-hop), Body Language (kinda future soul/rnb (?)), and a live Osees album from their levitation session I couldn't be arsed paying to stream. I was convinced Dizzee's album was supposed to be today but I guess it's been pushed back to the 30th.

Not gonna lie though I'm putting most my eggs in Metz's basket today.

Just spotted the solo album from Andy Bell of Ride is out today as well, liking it so far.

He nicked the album title from BoJack Horseman and acted in an interview like surely no one's ever heard it. The poem is really sad (and beautiful in a way) and one of the darker moments of the show so I am curious how depressing the album is (although wasn't mad impressed by the single that came out a while ago)

I enjoyed it.  That first track sounds pretty much like a Ride track, but it does then veer off a bit.  I'm not generally a fan of the reverse vocal trick, but as it was only the vocals and not the full track (a la Stone Roses Full Fathom Five) it just sounded quite trippy.  He's definitely gone in and decided to try stuff.

Not going to trouble my AOTY lists by any stretch, but it'll probably get a few more listens

Might try the D&B ones.  Given that my extremely limited knowledge of the genre extends to London Elektricity and Etherwood, where do those two sit?  Similar or way out?

Both albums will probably have some of the more melodic chill stuff that those guys make (havent listened to either yet mind)

Metz album kicks like a mule. Hope they’re over here next summer.

They were over here a few Glastonbury's ago but didn't play Glastonbury for some reason (and the Manchester date was the Thursday of Glastonbury so it was another time I've missed them). Playing some dates in September so there's that if they're not at the farm.

Not sure if they got any notice around here, but Wild Pink’s last album Yolk in the Fur was great and this new song of theirs is sounding pretty damn good as well

Another one loving this - will be checking out the rest of their stuff 👍

Always reminds me of Kevin Bridges. Remember him talking about the names of the nice areas in Glasgow sound scary and the scary areas sound nice. Oh Easterhouse, that sounds lovely, they must all wear easter hats and eat lots of chocolate. Bearsden, fuck me a den of bears, I don't want to go there.

Can't remember the other area names he used despite living just outside Glasgow.

Also just noticed that there is a post about Bishop Briggs today. That's two acts coincidentally sharing a name with an area of Glasgow 🤯

According to her wiki page Bishop Briggs has Scottish parents and actually took her stage name from the area.
