circus92
Right - 3 full listens to new Gaga and to my ears she has nailed it. It doesn't quite have a Poker Face, but it has quality from start to finish and even the interludes work well. There isn't really any filler which for a 16 track album is some effort. Get her on the Pyramid
jparx
Album is really good. My only issue is that it could do with a few slower moments. I appreciate the idea of wall to wall bangers, which this certainly is, but for my taste I'd like a couple of different tracks to mix it up a bit. Very good record though, and I do appreciate many will appreciate a record full of bangers. I just find if they're all like that it's difficult for tracks to stand out and it can feel a bit samey. Gaga is amazing at many different types of stuff, but each album tends to stick with one style. I'd like to see her consolidate all of that into one really well rounded album. If she did that, it would be an all time great record. Get her on the Pyramid if we're losing one of our headliners for sure. The new record would go off, coupled with the older hits and some of her mega ballads it would be a true legendary set.
Guy Incognito
New Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist record is good, as is The Cool Greenhouse's debut. The latter is one for fans of bizarre, monologue heavy, Fall-esque post-punk.

Big fan of Landlords/4Chan when they released those but didn't keep up with them so cheers for the heads up.

A bit like Black Country, New Road fronted by a wordier geezer and without the horns (and not as good - BC, NR were utterly brilliant at the R6 thing earlier this year). I'm assuming there's a name for this current trend of the vocals just being speech over post-punk sorta stuff? Dry Cleaning, Sinead O'Brien also spring to mind. lessthanwill1
I probably missed someone post about this a few weeks ago but Owen Pallett’s new album is incredible! I really like his previous albums (in addition to his film soundtracks e.g. Her) but this is a HUGE step up imo. It’s recorded with the London Contemporary Orchestra. Has lots of beautiful strings. I’m not sure how best to describe it: it’s got elements of Carrie & Lowell, A Moon Shaped Pool, Jens Lekman, These New Puritans and Brian Eno. First half is more ambient and second half has more immediate songs (check out A Bloody Morning in particular - SOTY for me so far). That and the fact I fucking love them.
