grumpyhack
I was going to start another poll not on our voting intentions but the likely result - but never got round to it. My personal guess would have been a Boris majority of about 20-30. This (if the exit polls are right) was way off my radar.

chatty
I guess the plus side is it should make getting Glasto tickets easier as no one will have any money and nobody will be wanting to come here for holidays and the like. I voted Yes in 2014 but I was a late turner to independence, I don´t consider myself a ´nat´, Wings and his like are fucking horrible, but as a socialist I felt the best chance of electing a social democracy was in an independent Scotland. That´s now confirmed past all doubt. We have to push for independence. Pretty much how I feel about things. I’ve only been able to vote since the 2014 referendum and have always voted SNP but like yourself did like the look of a lot of Labour’s policies this time round, albeit I’d never have voted for them as I live in an SNP/Conservative marginal. As you say, the unpleasant side of the pro independence campaign undoubtedly put some people off last time but even if the exit poll is slightly optimistic for the SNP, it seems pretty clear now that independence is the only viable option for us. One of the most distasteful things I´ve found during this election is the reaction of the hard-nats to the rest of us who have a more complex approach to supporting independence, however you always get nutters in any campaign. The great thing about Scottish independence for me is that it´s completely welcoming, particularly to our friends on this board/south of the border
jackmerton
So is this a definite loss for Labour? Not sure whether an exit poll is super accurate. Weird that neither me nor anyone I've spoken to was asked who they voted for on exit.

Johnson and a few of the other uber twats could still lose their seats though. Fingers crossed.

People want it done and see Johnson as being able to put and end to it. Most likely it’ll drag on for years, and as it does the homeless epidemic i see with my own eyes will get worse and worse. DJL
As an Englishman I completely understand the desire for Scottish independence now. Devastated. A divided left I could understand but even if you add them up... if this is to be believed the public want brexit and basically everything the tories stand for. Homer
Andrew Neil: "what are you going to give the working classes who voted for you then?" I'd imagine pretty much fuck all - it's not like they promised them much in the first place to get their votes.
