On discogs. 1980 ‘unauthorised’ recording

and exceedingly rare.

I picked it up at a 2nd hand record store on Haight-Ashbury around 25 years ago. I didn't know of its existence till I saw it.

edit: also got The Red & The Black there too, which i'd been trying to find in the UK without success.

I saw the american utopia concert film as part of the London film festival, directed by Spike Lee

5/5, amazing in the cinema. 100% watch it when you get a chance

did you see the show in the flesh when it was touring?

Just wondering if you're impressed with it as a bit of cinema, or you're impressed by the show because it's new to you.

Yeah saw it at hammersmith appollo

Its great even having seen it before. The angles, filming and performances are great. The theatre show is also a little different song order wise to the live gig

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know. Kicking myself that I didn't watch it the other night.

Byrne's tours tend to be long (normally more than a year), and the set list modifies a little during the tour - or at least that's been my experience of having seen him more than once on his last 5 (I think) tours.
