Need to see it again. Still don’t know if I liked it or not.

I'm a huge Tarantino fan but didn't enjoy it on 1st viewing. This was cos A) I didn't know the necessary history of 1969 Hollywood, and b) I was expecting something completely different. 2nd viewing though, after a bit of research, I really loved it.

The ending is brilliantly bonkers.  Unfortunately, you can't forget it to watch it brand new for the second time!

Non-Glastonbury Gig:

Andy C at Dreamland.  Backstory, Dreamland is our local amusement park that was saved from the hands of property developers by local campaigns and fundraising and a compulsory purchase.  It's now also an amazing event space and hosted Andy C this summer on the outdoor stage.  Something I never would have dreamed would happen during the campaign days so special moment for me.

Never been to a gig at Dreamland, always imagined it would be a bit....ropey.  Remember going there as a kid when it was still Bembom Brothers and then Dreamland in the 90s, but that was all before the campaign and refurb.

Might keep an eye out for interesting gigs there, bit of a trip down memory lane to the seaside!

It's changed a bit nowadays.  There's 4 stages for gigs - the outside one has a festival feel to it for the summer events, hall by the sea is the big indoor room, the ballroom for smaller more intimate gigs and the roller disco.

(sorry for the thread hijack :-) )

I got Men Without Women for Christmas last year and really enjoyed it. Stuck Killing Commendatore on this years list so hopefully I'll have another of his to read in the new year.

Norwegian Wood is the first of his I've read, certainly going to be picking up some more though!

I remember reading in some of the mixed response that to appreciate it you needed to know some of the actual history, I went in pretty much without a clue and loved it. I think I just very much enjoy the slow, 'hangout film' style where we just get to follow interesting characters around for a few hours, somewhat similar to Jackie Brown

You nearly got my vote for your valiant City defending in the football thread. Can't bring myself to wade into that debate.

Ye totally, on my 2nd viewing I enjoyed the Jackie Brown hangout film style, simply cos I was expecting it.

In regards to the necessary knowledge of history, I left the film with no idea that Charles Manson was anything to do with it whatsoever. Certain scenes seemed so out of the blue, it left me bamboozled. I therefore recommend to people reading about The Manson Murders before viewing.
