semmtexx
Coldplay 'not touring' until concerts are 'environmentally beneficial' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-50490700 Sounds like they are planning a 'staycation!' ? Suprefan
So are they currently on a sailboat to Jordan so they can make it to their concert on time? What about the small gig in London? Teleporter technology? Did Elon Musk gift them? And are they trying to keep on copying Radiohead with this current load of goop?
eFestivals
when a band goes on TV to say they're going to be hiding away, they're not going to be hiding away. So I'll take a guess that Coldplay have signed a mega-deal to promote a new online live streaming thingy. Cynic, me?
zeppelin
You know what? If this is a genuine attempt at being more environmentally friendly then good on them! Even if doing so is a stunt it's still a positive move. It's almost like it's cool to lump on Coldplay at any given opportunity so I don't think there's anything they could say that would change that.
Crazyfool01
The more stages he appears on the less the environmental impact I guess I’m looking forward to a solar powered potato starch xylo band
Tommy101
How are they going to mitigate for the previous 5 years of noise pollution?
Homer
Chris Martin was on Radio 4 this morning. He said they're definitely not playing Glastonbury and he's definitely not doing any cameos. The reason for the latter was he saw a tweet after the last fest taking the piss out of him always popping up on stage. But as I said, i'm cynical.

ian the worm
How many pieces of single use plastic battery LED wristbands did they produce? Feels like they are feeling a bit guilty.
ian the worm
Last weekend someone (maybe BIlly Bragg or Pete Townsend?) on the radio (4 or 6?) was saying he didn't want to tour as much to keep the green costs down. But then he mentioned the travelling public are part of the worst problem, therefore by keeping the band static, the public do more travelling. The following graph from BBC is interesting as it puts the audience travel at 33%.
Ayrshire Chris
I see he read a tweet about him playing Glastonbury too much. Bloody hell. If every act decided not to do Glastonbury because they read an adverse tweet about themselves then it would be difficult to fill the bill! a6l6e6x
Poor ol Chris gets more stick than he deserves in my opinion He just loves the festival so I'm not bothered if he turns up for a song with a couple of acts across the weekend Saying that I doubt he cares about the abuse too much, can't hear it through his wads of cash
dotdash79
I think he was genuinely hurt by it, he was doing something he loves at a place he loves. He also does a lot of positive PR for the festival with acts that might not be normally willing to pay for the money. bet most of the people moaning have never been to the festival. And if your going to get shit for doing guest appearances they then I wouldn’t be surprised if other acts are wary. it’s done the festival no favours this. Surely that’s only applicable if, for example, a band just plays the 02 London, and many in the UK then travel to London. But if a Coldplay responsible-style tour means they’re not going to visit the USA, Australia, Japan etc then it’s very likely overall it’s doing less harm to the environment. I can't imagine he was truly hurt by it - he's been in the limelight long enough to know that people take the piss. Maybe one guest appearance would have been enough. Also, I was wondering how they came about. Do you really Stormzy and Kylie asked him?

I think the festival put them in contact for the show production, as they used the same production company, and also some advice. not sure how the Kylie link came about (same record company?) fatyeti24
I doubt he saw a tweet and based his opinion on that - he's surely built up a thick skin to such things over the years. It seems more like his self depreciating humour to me.
