I'm gutted about Massive Attack, I know their live stuff tends to get a bad rep around here but i've not seen them so was hoping to catch them.

There's a debate being had on the other thread that maybe it's just a bit of duplicitious marketing and that MA aren't actually an exclusive FYI.

Not really. Said this in another thread. Maybe I am overestimating the size of royal blood but I feel like they are on their way to being a UK festival headliner.

Calvin Harris is naff but he’s pretty much a household name.

Pet Shop Boys, while their major festival headlining days are over they are still... a household name.

Yeah this is bang on.

I don't really know any Royal Blood songs to be honest, but they're definitely in that realm.

There have only been three instances in the last ten years where there hasn’t been a guitar based act headlining either of the top two stages...

Saturday 16 - Adele/New Order

Saturday 15 - Kanye/Dedmau5

Sunday 10 - Stevie Wonder/Orbital

Taylor/PSB isn't miles away Adele/New Order imo

I love Kendrick but I honestly thought sticking him up against the Pet Shop Boys was going to shrink his crowd a hell of a lot. So this now makes a bit more sense.

On the subject of The National, I dont think they stank in 2017, its just the decision to play 4/5 songs from an album that wasnt out was a mistake. That setlist post-album is great if you know what I mean.

My prediction is they want to make up for their 2017 set and save their reputation.

Totally, was hyping a few people up for it on the run up to it and they started listening to a lot of their songs they normally play. Only for them to play a bunch of songs they had never heard of before. It was really cool seeing new songs, but wrong place. Along with a lot of people hanging around for Foo Fighters and you kinda lost a lot of people.

I love them, they're one of my favourites, but that was not their best show and the crowd were not into it, at least where I was.

Calvin Harris is massive to those whose extent of music listening is flicking radio 1 on for an hour or two a day. He doesn’t have any massive albums really because he’s a singles artist.

He's massive full stop.  Not just to those who only flick radio 1 on.  Plenty of people with wide ranging taste in music like him.  I'm not taking it that if you like Calvin Harris you have low level interest in music.  To suggest that is snobbery, because you don't like him.

I thought it was a fantastic set!

Exactly my experience too. I've seen them three times now and Glastonbury 2017 was by far the worst of the lot.

They’ve only got 4 songs and one of them’s a bloody cover

I’m not a fan, but for context - yes, they’ve had four number 1s, but they’ve been in the top 30 (the hit parade, as it would have been called 39 years ago when they started) a fairly strong 42 times.

Theyve sold 50 million records.

I repeat, I'm not a fan, and it’s highly unlikely I will watch them this year, but I do think they deserve a bit of respect

Everyone roasting The National's 2017 set seems to be forgetting that they also sharted it the last time they played the Other Stage.

2010 was superb. Better setlist than 2017, nice weather, great atmosphere and the band clearly enjoying themselves.
