Do they announce line up later?

The line-up is never revealed before the October ticket sale but it has now become customary for a headliner or two to be announced before the April balance payment is due. The full line-up is revealed sometime after this date.

Yes some do stay in hotels and travel to the site each day but accommodation is scarce and at a premium. GF is in a rural location and there's not a plethora of travellodges nearby. Personally I would never consider using a hotel because of the chore traveling to the site each day and because Glasto is a 24hr a day fest and so much is potentially lost.

normally, tho, there's a pretty good idea who (at least) one of the headliners are going to be.

This time last year, for example, the general assumption (from info, rather than guesses) was that two of them would be The Cure, and Macca. The Cure was right, and it appears to be the case that Macca was also right at the time (but later fell thru).

But also, the info was out there about Stormzy too. When he did that Insta there was strong speculation it was a big hint he was headlining but for some reason it didn't seem to really stick.

There isn't anything looking as solid this year as yet - although i reckon there's a strong chance of Taylor Swift being one of the headliners, but that's purely guesswork based on her announced dates.

Do you ever find out any of the line up before tickets go on sale? And is there a way to do the festival and stay nearby offsite in a hotel etc?

No its all just rumours.. And probably but why.. Get in the festival and you'll feel the festival.. Or is it one of your holidays..
