I really don’t get this optimism that Green Day, Fall Out Boy or Weezer are going to play. It would be four nights on the trot.

Highly unlikely for sure....I think we just like to put out there every conceivable act because it's fun to speculate and occasionally we're even right, and it follows a set pattern:

1. So and so is touring around Glastonbury

2. Some say wouldn't that be great...

3. Others say that would be awful

4. Debate on where/when they would play

5. Persistent rumours and they're 'R' on efests

6. Ends up being The Killers/Coldplay/Radiohead/Chemical Bros anyway

7. Restart rumour for following year...

(I've deliberately not gone to 9.)

Can only see one date so far (July 11th, O2 Newcastle) but The Animals are on a farewell tour. Reckon they'll be at Glasto? Although I imagine they are a shell of their former selves now...

I saw The Animals at a little festival about 10 years ago, no idea who the singer was but I saw him a few years later fronting Boomtown Rats.

Anyway, they were great. We Gotta Get Out Of This Place was particularly good.

I know the last few years haven’t been kind to Geldof, but come on...

I've found him, I wasn't imagining it, the bloke's played with everyone.

"Peter Barton over the years has had the pleasure of being a Mindbender playing alongside Wayne Fontana, Playing Drums with both The Swinging Blue Jeans and Eric Haydock from the original Hollies. Pete played guitar with Lieutenant Pigeon alongside original Steve Johnson. His main instrument being the bass guitar. Pete spent over 15 years performing as lead vocalist and bass player with John Steel, Dave Rowberry and Mick Gallagher from The Animals. Along the way he has performed as the bass player and lead vocalist with The Boomtown Rats (Roberts and Crowe), Trevor Burton from The Move, Noel Redding, Steve Cropper, Chris Farlowe, Zoot Money, Mick Green, Spencer Davis and many many more."
