Shame that The Twilight Sad have never been booked, they'd be great in William's Green. My Bloody Valentine, Sufjan Stevens, Tears For Fears and Slowdive would all be great bookings too, though I've just seen that someone started a petition for the latter to play this year's festival

I think you’re going to have to refine the rules a little. There’s a shitload of small bands that have never played because they’re crap and can’t find an audience  And if they did play it would likely be in a tiny tent somewhere, which is disallowed under the rules. Which also begs the question ‘how smaller does a tent need to be to not count?’

Which bands whose members are alive have not appeared at the festival.

When it gets to the smaller acts playing in a small tent somewhere it will probably take a bit of research to see if it has happened.

The reason behind this is I had a chat with a friend of mine the other day as to whether there could be a full Glastonbury lineup full of acts that have never played before. From the names so far it appears at least possible an entirely fresh pyramid / other could be built.
