Top of my most wanted list is Tom Waits, but I really don't know where he'd play. If he headlined the Pyramid I'd worry he wouldn't go down well with the casuals. A tent would be best for atmosphere but would be stupidly busy. Headline Other just seems a bit meh for such a legend. Despite being the greatest artist going I'm not sure how to make him work at the festival maybe the fantasy should just be another UK tour.

Everyone was the first dance song at my wedding and their headline set in 2017 is probably my favourite gig I’ve been to. People like what they like mate.

Do you mean Everlong? If so, great song, but first dance?

Damn I forgot about Alicia Keys, she’d absolutely slay the Pyramid Stage

So glad this thread is called "Dream" line up as its a massive dream that Tom Waits would headline the Pyramid stage.... I love his voice but I would hazard a guess most people under a certain age 50? don't even know who he is. Not a chance he is headlining the Pyramid in this or any other universe.

In for the who the F is Tom Waites - happy to be educated....

Yes - was posting from my phone, so autocorrect. We had an acoustic version by a live band. It was great.

Tom Waits is the best.

I'd recommend starting at the beginning with Closing Time. It's his most accessible album full of beautiful songs that show off his voice.

Then jump forward to Rain Dogs for the best of his 80s weirdness. That beautiful voice evolved into the signature Waits growl as Keith Richards blusey guitar(more often Marc Ribot's guitar) competes with a deranged klezmer band.

Decide which of those you like best if it's Closing Time then concentrate on his earlier stuff pre-Swordfishtrombones with Alice possibly of interest out of the later stuff as it's pretty ballad heavy if it's Rain Dogs then focus on everything since Swordfishtrombones.
