The Coronavirus emergence is not so dangerous in Portugal as in other states, and the virus cannot survive to high temperatures. And we know that summer in Lisbon is very hot. Finally, the festival itself stated that is still on

It's not a matter of how dangerous it is, it's a matter of how dangerous it can get and what efforts we possess in order to tackle that. No one really knows what is going to happen and under that uncertainty it is much easier to just avoid big risks. Even if Portugal's situation settles down, that doesn't mean others' will. Contact with other countries can be something that's just not worth having for a while. My 2c

Taylor Swift at Nos Alive. Didn´t expect that at all.

Strong and big rock names enough touring next summer. And their name is not Kasabian.

I didn’t start the NOS Alive thread for the first headliner to be Taylor Swift. I don’t see how it suits the demographic. Maddening.

Agree, but Glastonbury is a much bigger festival than nos alive, so we cannot consider that to build the venue for the latter is needed the same time required for the former; and we should note also that Glastonbury is held a month before nos alive and in a much colder state 🇬🇧

So better not be afraid of that problem in this moment, we must see the situation in April or May and keep 🤞🏻

Sure, I'm not comparing Alive with Glastonbury, I'm just telling that, because of the current situation and its consequencies on other big events like Glastonbury, Primavera, APE, Werchter, Pinkpop... A lot of bands will postpone their European tours booked for late spring / early summer.

All this to explain that, unfortunately, it isn't a Portugal-related question.

Let's just hope and keep safe ourselves and the other persons around us.

It might be the case Portugal has less issues than several other European nations, but I don't think bands are going to randomly play some and not others if some of their stops are unusable. And also Portugal might be difficult for some as you have to go through Spain if coming by bus from France, and there's little guarantee Spain is going to be ready anytime soon.

My instinct is festivals in August might have a chance but July ones are getting to the stage of being in peril if June events are being thrown by the wayside.

Never Stop Dreaming is kinda appropriate tbf - we can still dream that something might happen this year, even if its getting increasingly unlikely. All that talk of "nothing until vaccine" from an increasing amount of sources is a sure as shit way to darken the mood on that front.

I hate to say this but there's a lot of reasons why this Summer there will be no big festivals:
- A gradual re-opening is starting soon in most of Europe but it won't surely include mass gatherings during next months.
- Some Countries (including Belgium, Germany and Denmark) already denied public events until the end of summer and some others will do the same soon.
- A lot of important bands/artists already postponed their tour or are working to postpone them.
- It's hardly difficult to imagine that everyone will be freely traveling through Europe in the next few months. There will still surely be some restrictions and safety measures.
- Even if all the travel and mass events restrictions were removed (and they won't) a lot of people would be scaried to travel to a mass event so soon (and buy tickets, food, drinks and so on).

It's only a matter of when, but every festival that had to happen this Spring/Summer is canceled.

Hi folks. There wasn't a thread for Rock in Rio Lisbon but thought I'd just ask on here. They cancelled this years event on April 3rd but are not issuing refunds, just replying to everyone on social media that tickets are valid for next years festival instead. I saw someone mention in their comments that the law in Portugal means that they legally don't have to offer refunds like they do in the UK if the event gets rescheduled. Anyone know if this is true? Many thanks.

MAD COOL FESTIVAL WILL GO ALONG WITH NOS ALIVE >>>> There will be no popular festivals in the 21 districts of Madrid until, at least, November . The City Council of the capital today approved in the Governing Board the suspension of all performances or activities outdoors or in closed areas promoted by the neighborhoods and which are scheduled to take place between the months of May to October. Neither will it be possible to organize those in which, regardless of the place where they are held, it is not possible to control access and hygiene, security and social distancing measures.

"Territorial Coordination is going to issue an instruction to cancel, so that they don't celebrate, this year's district festivals.

Yeah it won't be a surprise if/when the plug gets pulled on this one. I would like to see it happen, but its hard to believe mass events of this scale will go ahead anywhere anytime soon. Or at least at all in 2020.

Translated >>>

NOS Alive will not be held this year, said Isaltino Morais, Mayor of Oeiras, yesterday (May 5) at the extraordinary session of the Municipal Assembly.

The news is from Rádio Renascença , which quotes Isaltino Morais: "We must continue to program and work, but of course there are certain events, which for reasons that have to do with the care and prudence that we have to take, in with regard to gatherings, which certainly cannot be held. There are great festivals that will not be held. It is more or less known that Alive will not be held this year ”.

Everything Is New, which organizes NOS Alive in Algés (Oeiras) every year, has yet to comment on these statements.

Tomorrow, May 7, the Government of António Costa is expected to make a decision regarding the summer festivals, this year, in Portugal.

Any news about when will be released the official cancellation statement and the new dates in 2021?

Only next Thursday Portuguese government will discuss the proposal. Only after that the festival will give more details.

Nos alive officially postponed to the next year. Can anyone change the title of the discussion to NOS ALIVE 2021?

No but I’m sure someone will create a new thread soon enough.

Anyone having issues with refunds?

Seetickets UK are not providing any refund option currently, only a voucher or exchange for 2021 tickets. I have requested a refund, but see a chargeback in my future based on their delayed responses to date.
