I'm kind of on my way back after a few years off with plantar fasciitis. A really frustrating injury, I would start running again and then it would flare up once more and I'd have to stop for a few months waiting for the pain to go. Hopefully it's gone now, but I've definitely lost some pace and not sure I'll get it back, but just glad to be able to run again really. Sounds very similar to me; I know pf can hang around and know runners who had to quit and took up cycling. I kept resting my calf issue and then tried to make a comeback which only lasted a few days, so I'd rest for longer; 4/5 weeks, then try again. Eventually after at least 18 months I managed to enter a couple of short 5/6km races and did parkrun with no reaction which has given me some confidence to press on...then covid 😉 Not sure how old you are but at my age the fitness takes much longer to return and I can't even run a 5 min interval at my 2018 marathon pace. Surely there's an argument (albeit unpopular) to say he's not entered in to the half marathon race so shouldn't have been given the victory?! Which is VERY well sign posted and marshalled. And it's my local marathon. Along routes i regularly run. You say that but i was leading this year's Salisbury Plain Marathon at one point, which was a first. Quark Posted September 22, 2021 Report Share Posted September 22, 2021 Back at training last night and the gut strain seems to have finally decided to loosen itself up. Not perfect as it's noticeable this morning, but not enough to be an issue. Probably going to give it one more week before I make myself available to play, but at least I can start running again now. Legs are knackered though, decided that I needed to give myself a kick up the arse so did the 20km ride each way to training and back with an hour's rugby in between.
