Mystery knee affliction has improved a bit; can now walk without a slight limp! Managed to get a doctor's phone appointment (was 38th in the queue when I called!) and they have referred me; reckons I need an MRI scan.

My wife, who has plantar fasciitis from wearing jandals (flip flops) too much when she was younger, reckons it's because I've been wearing my crappy backup Dunlop Green Flash a lot recently (just generally, not for running or anything!). I think they're going in the bin sadly!

Update, especially for the beautiful people who have sponsored me, for 3000 sit ups in March charity event.  850 done.  2150 to go. On track to finish before the end of the month. Feeling good now so did a few extra this morning. I think you can see the day my stomach muscles decided to wake up and make themselves known? Yep, that was an oucheee day.

Onwards and upwards.

Without gloating..... This morning I ran my first half marathon and I'm so proud of myself! Bonus that I completed the distance in a time of 1:49.05, I can't believe that I have done it on the week I was meant to be running the Bath Half for Rethink Mental Illness. Time to enjoy my ice-cream and rest before I get back to training.

Great effort! I did my first (and only) half at the Bath half 2 years ago in 1:50:09 and felt gutted about those 9 seconds. The experience put me off and I’ve stuck to 10k since but enough time has passed for me to want to try and break 1:50 this year

Time to 'fess up. Who are you?

Depressingly mine is probably closest to the Grandpa 😂. Short quick strides. Bouncer going uphill. Stomper when I'm knackered and technique has gone to ratshit 😄

Ahhh I’m the old stiff armer I think. Didn’t even know what was a thing until now.

My knee seems to have mysteriously fixed itself. Did boxercise on Fri and Sat and it's fine. The worrying thing is how it just appeared out of nowhere one morning. Bizarre. Got a date with a specialist in May.

I think my running career is now finished on three halfs, four 10k races and a 15-mile obstacle event.

Thank you! I was really surprised with my pace, was expecting to do it in 2 hours, but just found a lovely rhythm. I'm sure you'll get back to the it and smash the time! Plenty of great people on here have provided me with motivation.

Majority of the time I'm stiff arms, but when running along the canal nearby I'm definitely daydreamer sometimes almost falling into the canal 😂

There doesn’t seem to be one for clutching your broken bits while staggering to A&E, so I’ll have to go with Inconsistent 🙂

New 5km PB tonight, 22 mins dead.  That's new half marathon and 5km PBs in the last 2 weeks, and I reckon I've got the 10km in my sights as well this month.

All the years I was wondering what I should do to improve my running, and it turns out the answer was just "run a lot" 😄

Awesome! Well done Quark. What's your 10km PB at the moment? I'm thinking about pushing for mine next week.

49:12 at the moment. Haven't got a target in mind, just shaving some off would be good.

Getting that 1:50 half will be the next one, although they've confirmed they're taking entries for the Fan Dance race in Wales in the summer, so I might switch training to running with weight again once I get the 1:50.

Oh that'd be a great effort! Good luck with the PBs! I really want to get a tactical vest for some really intense workouts.

Football starts up again in just over two weeks, then my team has a game on the Saturday (league been abandoned but we have set up our own one with a few of the other local teams).

Dodgy knee seems to be okay and am persevering with boxercise three or four times a week (plus weights and core stuff). Bit of a quandary as think I should ideally start jogging now in prep for football but don't want to knacker my knee again. Anyone know what the best cardio to do is without actually putting pressure on the knee?!

My garage gym project is gathering pace and i've got a decent amount of kit now. 20kg, 12.5kg, 7.5kg and 4kg dumbells, 24kg & 16kg kettlebells and a 20kg weight / sandbag.

Going to be installing the wall mounted pull up bar tomorrow and the electrics in the next couple of weeks so i'll have some light in there (biggish job as garage is detached from house)

Has anyone got any tips on flooring? This is what i'm swaying towards at the moment:

I'm just working through mine at the moment, hope to finish painting this weekend so I can start getting the floor down. Got to take bike racks, punchbag and pull up bar off the walls first though!

I've just gone for these as I didn't want to be spending much.  It's not exactly going to be suitable for really heavy work or olympic lifts or anything like that, but had decent enough reviews.

Yeah I did look at these previously but was put off by some of the reviews especially in regards to those who installed in garages.

I'm going to only go for 2 of the above I think initially as that will give a fairly substantial area of 2.4m x 1.8m and I'm after something substantial / heavy because I'll be doing a fair amount of burpees etc so would rather pay a bit more and know they won't slip around etc.

On a side note - I'm really hoping when the gyms open on April 12th there will be a flurry of people looking to offload lots of kit they've purchased to get through lockdown.

Olympic barbells & plates are crazy expensive brand new!

Week end update. Almost half way through the month.  1800 in the bag and just £15 from my target. So if anyone would like to bung a couple of quid towards the charity (Royal Marsden cancer charity) I promise you will have good karma when ticket day arrives *

Anyone here follow The Barkley Marathons? I’ve become obsessed with it since lockdown when I read about it in Scott Jurek’s book and then watched the documentaries on it on YouTube/Netflix.

It started last night and I’ve been refreshing the #BM100 hashtag on Twitter all day.

If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a really fascinating thing to read up on. It’s thought of as the hardest running race in existence. Only 15 people have finished it since it started about 30 years ago.

It’s easier to read the wiki page on it rather than me explain all the reasons why it’s so hard!
