Tent in campervan field

Hoping someone can advise. My mate is is in campervan west on his own and we would like to camp with him at his pitch. The plot size he booked is the standard 8m X 7m. I know that it is not allowed to pitch a tent next to the van, only behind it. My question is, can we pitch the tent behind the van, but going across the pitch? Our tent is 7m long, so is within the size of the pitch, and the van + tent would be an L shape arrangement. Can anyone advise if this would be ok?

That is a long tent and you may have issues as that side isn't huge to start with. Our tents, with 2 vans have been between, but are smaller too.

Are you allowed tents between vans? Rules say you can only pitch behind.

Yes, we've always pitched by the side. The main thing is to maintain fire gaps between vehicles but as we have smallish tents we, and others put them on the side. You should be fine on position, I just think your tent is big compared to others. It's easier if you arrive together as you'll be able to judge space rather than estimate a gap for you to turn up later. It's trial and error.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I don't want to piss people off but looking at aerial shots from previous years it seems like people do take large tents and pitch them next to their vans. We will be parking in pink car parks then walking to the CV field but my mate will have the tent and can lay out. Worst case scenario the stewards so no and we can walk back into the campsite, just trying to gauge the chances of this happening.

Just turn the van round so it's parked length ways and pitch the tent behind.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I think it'll be fine.
