Jess Glynne band for life from IOW festival

Recommended Posts

Jess Glynne has been ban for life from IOW Festival for life, for not tuning up for her slot. Have a read below.

Band for life seems a bit extreme to me. What's your thoughts?

If most people didn’t turn up for their jobs because they’d been on the piss the night before there would be consequences.

Most of our jobs don’t involve performing to 60,000 punters.

TBF if any performer doesn't turn up to something they're being paid for, due to being hungover, and the booker knows (whether that be childrens parties, comedy nights down the local pub or headlining Glastonbury) they're not going to be booked again.

As an aside and not really relevant, if I remember correctly, was Frank Turner not banned from Glastonbury for awhile? What was the story behind that?

This is why Courtney Barnett is a hero for our times. Got wrecked, still did two sets. Not even a problem.

I understand banning her.... but for Life does seem very harsh IMO.

It's not the first time she's pulled out of performing there though.

She also pulled out of her performance in 2015 although admittedly that was with a bit more notice than this time.

I wouldn't have thought the IOW festival will be around for much longer anyway so I doubt it will make much of a difference to her.

What makes you think that?

I'll be surprised if she's still relevant in 5 years or so, so it isn't as bad as it sounds.

I have been to IOW once and I can't remember much of it. It didn't amaze me in the slightest.

Yeah but that Pyramid slot wasn't great, was it?

It was a complete mess. I passed by the second set at William’s Green which sounded slightly better but still all over the place.

I find boozing enhances my singing ability!  My rendition of ring of fire after several whisky's is a sound to be hold.
