I really hate wellies so will be going with my trusted walking boots but does anyone have any tips to make them that little bit more waterproof?  I have heard spraying tent waterproofing spray can help but don't want to ruin them so are there any good tips out there?

They are fabric

Do they have a Gore-Tex or equivalent waterproof & breathable liner? If so does it have a hole in it?

If yes, the only way to make them waterproof is to buy a new pair of boots. If it's intact you could try buying fabric boot waterproofing spray/liquid to give a bit more waterproofing but if it's really muddy or wet this is likely to just wash off.

i resealed my boots with sugru and then sprayed them with this stuff, ran them under a tap the other day and the water did just slide right off, wont know how they will handle being totaly wet for long periods but tit seems to have done the trick at the moment. going to spray my waterproof coat with it aswell and take the can with me to redo it if necessary

Gaiters. You can get a good pair that will cover the top of your boot. Google will be your friend but Decathlon have some reasonably priced ones.
