Any chance you could also tell us the lottery numbers for next Saturday mr. prophet man? ;) 😛

Can't see how it can be on mate, festivals in May and June are all getting pulled. Do people expect a festival first week of July to go ahead? A festival which has customers from all over Europe.

I don't think Sziget will go ahead and that well into August.

Strange.. At livenation as well as in the village of Werchter they know that the festival probably will be canceled. And not just an average person in town...

Experts say that even a big barbeque in summer is not a good idea. So what about a festival even if it is downscaled.

I think it's very difficult to predict at the moment. Let's hope first that everybody stays healthy and safe. And then let's see how it develops.

Yeah... never met you in the meetings I guess? Everybody has a reliable source these days.
So many people in the business are needing us. We will not cancel the festival before we did everything we can.

Rock Werchter was not on the list. But we strongly support the announcement of our colleagues today.

It's tragic that the entertainment industry is taking a massive hit at the moment and you're completely right that lots of people in the business do need these events to go ahead. However the priority right now and for the foreseeable future is maintaining people's health and saving lives. So is it not irresponsible for RW and all the other festivals to be making plans to get thousands of people together in the next few months in a relatively small space when we're not even allowed to stand within 2 metres of each other in the queue for food at the supermarket?

The speed this is moving at is causing Governments in every country, with all those resources and experts at their disposal, to have to change the advice they're giving and make u-turns on an almost daily basis. So quite how any music festival can make feasible contingency plans to go ahead in any capacity in the next few months is beyond me? Even in the very unlikely event things do start to calm down around May/June time (which incidentally is when it's predicted to peak in many European countries) then the scientific consensus is that it will flare up again once people start to socialise after restrictions are lifted. There's no way they will suddenly sanction mass gatherings of thousands of people standing right next to each other in fields or in huge, crowded tents. And would people even want to go when there's the very real risk of catching it, spreading it to family and friends and then having to go into isolation, lockdown etc again?

RW can make all the plans they like but they've got no control over what happens and will be totally reliant on the decisions Govts make to try and slow down the spread. Sorry to be so pessimistic but I've resigned myself to the fact that this summer's festival season is almost certainly a write off. I hope I'm wrong as otherwise it'll mean I'll miss out on my annual festival trip to Belgium (as well as family holidays to Holland in May and the United States in July) but this isn't going away any time soon.

Knowing that the RW can keep foreigners out and like seeing a dream of mine going down the river.
Here in Portugal the festivals on the music sites and social networks are passing a positive word, I hope the same there in Belgium!
We continue together, strong, with positive thinking, but for that we all need to stay home. Much strength for all !!!

RW keeps on posting on their Facebook page. Is it a good sign, or.. what?

I doubt they have too many doctors or health officials among their staff, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. If we give it a 10% chance of being held as normal, I think we're being optmistic, but the way they handle it in the US, I don't think any European country will be welcoming anyone from there for the next few months. That would mean a drastic change in line-up..

It's probably not possible to postpone a festival like RW 2020, because of the fixed tour dates. Cancellation seems most likely, I assume you will get a refund for those tickets. A smaller option is that RW will still go on with drastic line-up changes & downsized.

Surely that comment by itself is the giveaway this is something like The Onion, Daily Mash or Newsthump?

Made me laugh though.
