Do you think Elton is a contender to headline next year?

Just watched Rocket Man and I thought if its really going to be FM and Sir PM next year Id rather see Elton John and hes in the middle of those 300 dates next year. Do you think theres a chance he will be in the line up?

I really hope so, I recently saw Rocketman too and it reminded me how many good bops he has, would be unmissable.

I'd love to see this and from the look of his touring schedule in 2020 this could work, being in between the New Zealand and European legs of the tour. I do however wonder if it would be a big enough payday for him to agree to do it.

He should be. Most likely the last opportunity, the festival should at least try to book him.

I've always wanted him as Sunday legend. Lot of great tunes, but not sure I'd want to listen to a headliner length set by him.

You would think he's top of their list. Pretty much the only name of his size left who hasn't done it or died, and it might be the last chance.

I wish I could say yes, but look what happened with The B-52s this year; precedent set for Glastonbury failing to get classic queer icons on their final tour in the vicinity at the time.

I saw it last night - and it reminded me of Alan Carr (playing Austin Powers). Was good fun though - enjoyed it a lot (despite the slightly rubbish end).

My mate, who isn't historically an Elton fan at all, saw him at Bestival and said he really enjoyed it.

I believe he's been booked for British Summer Time in Hyde Park next July, so I'd say there's a pretty good chance he'll headline Glastonbury too.

Then again this is Elton, he’s more likely to book a series of gigs at Stenhousemuir FC over Glastonbury weekend.

Yes indeed, bizarrely I saw him at Paddock Wood hop farm a few years back and this was before the days of the festival there. About 2000 people there, great show, Elton helicoptered in and out. The next day I returned to the exact same little field for a boot fair where Elton had sung his little heart out a few hours before!

If they get Elton as the legend slot, they would have knocked it out of the park. Definitely has the tunes to headline, but the fact he’s played such low-profile sports grounds and festivals makes me believe he would do the Sunday afternoon.

I reckon the other way around, Elton would probably get a larger crowd than Macca, having said that I doubt Mac would be willing to take the legend slot.

Elton could definitely do it.  He could do what Bowie or the Stones did; turn up in an extravagant coat, play the hits for a couple of hours and tell a couple of anecdotes about being on the farm.

People would lap it up.

I think he goes off the beaten track by choice rather than not being able to play the huge stadiums. I bet if any other music legend toured as much as he does, they’d be knocking around the Bescot Stadium as well.

Would be very surprised if, for his only Glasto appearance ever, he was asked to play the afternoon while another legendary act closes out the show. He should tell them where to go if that’s what they offer.

Elton is one of the greatest in history. It would be unreal seeing him on Pymild. Seen him twice but that would be incredible seeing him headline GF.
