I guess that's an indication of how soft the bottom of the well is?  I think 2/3 inches has been about average so sounds like no significant change despite all the rain that's been circling the country.

so far it feels the same stickyness and sinks 3 inches ( about the same as usual) and then stick is quite dry mud. Not wet like on Friday night. So to summarise , the ground is damp as you might expect at the bottom of a well but not wet. It’s no worse and if anything it’s a tad better than it was.

Cutting edge modern day science like this needs more mainstream coverage for me. I really do now have a true feel for the conditions that ensembles and water tables simply cannot give me. 

The sticky stick, big dog and RAM jam jar should be getting the nobel prize for progressing the public understanding of science
