To be honest, I'm finding this discussion about Primavera's communications to be a storm in a teacup. There's a much bigger problem, which is whether it's even possible for the festival to take place in its current form next year.

I suspect I'll take the voucher option, to keep faith with the festival, but I'm not kidding myself that there's a better than 50% chance of it happening next year.

This comment is spot on.

Governments are making wholesale changes to city infrastructure and working environments. This is massively inconvenient but they are doing it because they believe we are here for the long haul.

The reasons mass gatherings are risky now are the same as why they will be risky next June. Scientists are divided as to whether we will have vaccine roll out by then. Probably more think we won't than think we will.

Salvation it seems can only come if there is a vaccine that is both demonstrably effective and if it is able to be rolled out at unprecedented scale and if  immunity conferred is reasonably long-term.

A lot of ifs.

The very existence of music festivals is under threat. And the longer this goes on, the more will close. Yes, they are commercial organisations but it still stands to ruin the livelihoods of the human beings who work for them and the human beings who work in the supply chain.

I may grab a refund of my tickets and grab a resale Glastonbury,

just feel it's a safer bet than a festival that involves a longer flight. I'll wait and see what's offered or if a new big name is added in their upcoming press release. But based on this year I reckon it'll be easier for me to get to the UK from Ireland for 2021.

Maybe even all points east, quite liked the look of the Tame Impala day. Massive attack day with an exclusive acoustic Thom Yorke/Radiohead mixed set looked good too.

I suspect there's less chance of getting a resale ticket for Glastonbury next year than spending three days at Primavera without being offered 1 euro beer at the entrance.

It's a good point, I guess in the case of Glasto I hope that people are a bit on the fence when buying resale tickets.

The issue with Glastonbury it's normally incredibly difficult even at the best of times and with tickets rolling over to next year, there's now 2 years worth of pent up demand.

Being on (or over) the fence might be the only way of getting in : )

wow the days when you could go over the fence, and prior to that - no fence!

I slipped a steward a tenner a couple of decades ago and he walked me straight in! Tickets were easy to buy as well - didn't sell out for months. Gather they have trained snipers now...

i can remember going over the fence a few times before they had the second fence and tickets were about £60 from Hmv.

I’ve currently got a problem where my final Festicket payment for my ticket hasn’t been taken without any indication as to why, and my order is non existent on their site. There are also no order numbers on the emails they sent...

My girlfriend also has the same problem as do a couple of odd people looking at a few social media comments. I was wondering if anyone has the same problem and had any word from Festicket about it? Kind of stuck with neither ticket nor order but two thirds of a payment plan that needs sorting out...

So there's a refund, for those who want it, and benefits (which?) to those who decide to keep the ticket, and lineup starts to be announced in June.

Just say Pavement are in and it's the best we could hope for

But still, reading it hurts.....

Wonder what the benefits are. Could do with the extra money, but might be worth sucking it up and keeping the ticket if it’s something good.

Also I imagine Pavement have got to be one of the acts for next year, albeit probably no longer as an exclusive.

I was assuming we would have the same line up for 2021, since they must have paid some of the artists caché in advance , as explained by some posters. Maybe force majeure allowed them to have that money back too? So to re-invest it in new exclusives/headliners? I hope we won't loose bauhaus :(

Going off other events, it'll be a free drink voucher and something along the lines of keeping your ticket at 2020 price instead of a 5-10 euro increase for 2021. Still, if people can afford it, they should keep their ticket.

Bit odd having to wait until June 3rd to request a refund though.

I got this from redtkt:

Hi,

First of all, the Primavera Sound team hopes that you and yours are fine. We are sending you love in these very difficult times.

Secondly, thank you very much for your patience. We are very sorry to have kept you waiting, but we wanted to address you when all the details of what is going to happen had been resolved.

But, above all, we wanted to be completely sincere with you. After all, you are also part of Primavera Sound and you deserve nothing less. So, if at any point during this crisis it seemed that this was not the case, please forgive us.

You must know that our commitment to you has always been a priority in all the decisions we have made during this crisis.

We were already thinking of you when we announced the lineup for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2020, the one for our 20 th anniversary, the one that was going to be the #bestfestivalforever, the one that made us dream as much as it made you dream.

We had you in mind when, after the declaration of the global pandemic, we put the health and well-being of our festivalgoers first and decided not to celebrate the festival when it was programmed, in June. It was a hard blow. There is no insurance that offers coverage against this eventuality, not for us and not for you as the consumer.

Of course we also considered you when, with the green light from the local and health authorities, it seemed possible to celebrate it in August and we changed the date. We did so by putting all our effort and enthusiasm into it.

We were so excited when we saw that 86% of the lineup was in for the new date. The same artists that you bought your ticket to see. For them you were also a priority.

You were never far from our thoughts, although it may have seemed that way, when we were discouraged by the fact that there was no clear legal framework for ticket refunds during this exceptional situation: we could not inform you in detail and with confidence about the different options that you would have with your ticket. We felt helpless and it is normal that, as a consequence, you also felt that way because of us. Again, please accept our apologies.

We know that you, like us, experiencing this lockdown and with many doubts about the future, understand that now it makes no sense to continue prolonging this uncertainty when we already know that the gradual lifting of the lockdown around the world would probably lead us to an unnatural Primavera Sound this summer. It wouldn’t be the festival you had bought a ticket for. It wouldn’t be the #bestfestivalforever.

That is why today we are announcing the most difficult decision in the entire history of Primavera Sound: we are very sorry that we have no choice but to postpone the 20th anniversary of Primavera Sound until next year, specifically from June 2nd to 6th, 2021.

Your ticket will be valid for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021 and will include special benefits to thank you for your loyalty and support if you decide to keep it. But, of course, it will be possible to request a refund if you want to do so. Don’t worry; we will offer several options for you to choose the one that suits you best.

On Wednesday June 3rd, the date on which the festival should have started, the procedure will start and we will get in touch with you directly to fill you in on all the details. On that same day we will begin to reveal the first names of the Primavera Sound 2021 line up. Then you will have more information in order to make the decision that works for you.

Although right now we are sad and worried, we are also sure that this situation that is so difficult for everyone will change and that we have to start looking to the future with hope: today is one day less until Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021.

We are going to work hard to make our postponed 20th anniversary in 2021 the genuine #bestfestivalforever. It will be a party and, of course we want you there. One thing is sure, we will dance together again.

You, precisely because you had faith in us when you bought your ticket and now can decide to keep it, are the person without whom this festival would not be possible.

I can imagine Primavera Sound without many things, but I cannot imagine it without you.

Can’t do without you.

Primavera Sound Director

I guess the benefits can be similar to the primavera pack - a bunch of merchandise of some sort, maybe drink vouchers, maybe semi-VIP ticket with some privileges

And I couldn't care less about exclusivity. just bring them on

Well, business wise they want people to get a taste of the 2021 lineup so they don't request a refund. Having a couple of names will almost certainly convince people to go "ah, fuck it" and keep their ticket.
