Car Parks Overnight Opening

Does anyone know what year they opened the car parks overnight to help with congestion?  Also any experience of queuing times on the a39/a361 mid morning time on the Wednesday? Thanks

Pretty sure it was 2010, the campervan fields opened on the Tuesday for the first time that year too. This was to try to prevent the queues from hell of 2009,  we were stuck in Shepton Mallet for hours on end on the Wednesday.

2016 we were stuck for about 5 hours on the road from Glastonbury to the site on Wednesday morning but that was the weather and mud that caused congestion in the car parks. In 2017 we arrived in the car park around 10  o’clock on the Tuesday evening. Traffic was moving slow but steady. Had a great time in the car park with others, a good laugh then joined the queues at gate A . Tent up by midday. Opening the car parks on Tuesday night is a great idea
