Leaving Sunday Evening - Queues?

As a teacher, I was really worried about Glastonbury. Fortunately my head has allowed me to have Friday off so I can travel down at 3pm on Thurs. Due to this I need to travel back to Yorkshire (4 and a half hours ish) on Sunday night.

What times are best to leave on Sunday and are there any really busy times to avoid?

I'd have thought right after the Sunday headliner finishes would be busy. I would probably be looking at leaving some time between 7pm and 10pm.

Thanks!

I have worked as a steward at those times. You may find a little jam getting out of the car parking field, mainly around midnight. Once on the main road you are laughing.

If there's heavy r*** then a lot more people leave on Sunday and the car parks can get pretty clogged up.

This is particularly true (and nothing to worry about this year..).

I have only stayed in the CV fields and a fair few will head out Sunday night. I tried it one year and we were out on the main road in about 20 minutes.. The drive home was hard though..

Hopefully you will have someone to share the drive with.?  That is a tough trip if you have a car full of sleeping pissheads..

There's just 2 of us and we'll share the drive! Thanks :)

I left to drive back to Liverpool during the last headliner and there was no queues. I was back home around 1.30am.

I'm leaving a similar time or after the last headliner this year too as I'm in work Monday.

That's some going to get back to liverpool that quick . Although motorway would be empty

As a trainee teacher, future Glastonbury's have been a worry of mine! Has your head let you have the Friday off in the past or is this the first time?

I recently drove back from Cornwall, from JNC 23 (Pilton) it took me three and a half hours. It just all depends on the state of the M6!

This is the first time but she was really good about it - I've never asked before. I'm already worried to try my luck again next year!
