I think that the fairest way forward for me is to have a large SPOILER ALERT alert in any new threads that I may post on here in the future with no solid info in the thread title.

Thoughts?

(Doesn't apply to my usual 'State of the ground' thread, that's no secret)

I'd appreciate that ?

I can't wait for that thread to start and for the comments to be "dry" and "green" . At least so far they are having a drier year than 2016's mudbath. Seemed to be rainy day after rainy day that year and the ground never recovered. Not to mention the deluge it had the week before

I'd say that there's a fairly strong chance that anything with new info about the festival posted on here, with or without SPOILER ALERT, will end up in the press. I'm sure there are several members of the fourth estate lurking around here...

Almost certainly a response to the ever growing success of Boomtown  which is rapidly becoming THE festival of choice for the younger crowd and in many ways has the edge over Glasto in terms of sheer creativity of the landscape, themes, characters and staging.

Is this for real? Not going to work.

Depends how determined some people are to spoil what’s being created for the festival goers, of course. All the festival can do is ask but you’d think the majority of people working at Glastonbury are going to share the same ethos and go along with what’s being asked of them.

One or two little teasers are good, as is some hints and some footage of the build. Gets the juices pumped for what’s coming, and of course, when you arrive, you’re blown away all over again. A few leaked images are never going to really prepare you for the reality, the scale and the detail of the finished thing.

Id rather have this sort of stuff than the comprehensive spreadsheeting of every caterer and market stall that seems to be in vogue this season on efests.

Hooray for the unexpected, the serendipitous and the places you can only find by happenstance. Every Glastonbury for me needs on Brigadoon moment, the place you find at 2am which is exactly what you need, but then can’t ever be found again in the cold light of day. That’s exactly as it should be, I’m there for an adventure, not to cross-reference an Excel listing.

Stuff will come out, it always does. I was sent some photo's last year by someone who knew I'd be interested but asked me not to share, which I didn't but similar images were posted by other sources a few days later.

I love seeing the new stuff in advance, gets the excitement up and doesn't ruin it for when you see it in person (at least it doesn't for me).

remember the pre internet days, when you booked a holiday seeing only a couple of pictures in a brochure, there were no online reviews and no 'spoilers' ... nowadays you know what the street will be like, you know exactly the position, the front door, you;ve read the reviews , you've seen picures of the rooms/food/pool and it all looks 'familiar; when you arrive

How did we survive the anticipation ? Actually I am seriously wondering how we did, but we did .... has the world now got so we know too much before we arrive somewhere ?

I;d love it to be that the onsite photos aren't leaked, that its a total suprise when we get there, we have a map, we're not going to get lost, lets get a sense of anticipation and surprise :-)

Can't be long until you're on site now can it?

I assume from the last sentence of your post we won't be relying on you for any festival build pics :P

6.5 weeks :-), even if I wasn;t seeing it before the festival (as has been the case every other year) I sitll would prefer not to have a ton of spoilers,,, mmm maybe a couple ...... I'll send 'ground and grass  condition ' reports and pictures :-) . In all seriousness this post did get me thinking to pre internet days and how much we now know before doing anything at all, and whether thats an entirely good thing or not , in all cases !

Where I work we have to sign NDA's all the time and still information leaks out - just not blatant publishing of information.

Some information needs to be kept under wraps e.g. "Security measures". But a few insta pics or tweets just build the excitement and the need to find where the picture was taken from.

It depends on whats being posted.  I love behind the scenes pictures of the build coming along as its fascinating to see it take shape but between security concerns and wanting to keep things a surprise, I can  understand the decision to have NDAs / clauses in contracts prohibiting unauthorised  sharing of photos on social media.

I think little glimpses and teasers are fine as long as they don't give away too much, it all adds to the excitement!

I think a close up photo of a “no camping” sign to a flag pole is just the right amount of “leak” as it whets the appetite for the tickets holders.

But a wide angle shot of the new Arcadia installation is not.

Things like the big pile of sand for the sculptures, or a dead straight line brand new crowd fencing just outside PGA.  Kind of generic infrastructure stuff the is very much part of BEING at the festival, but ISN’T actually part of the entertainment side of the festival

That’s what I think they mean.

I'll abandon my toilet map, detailing facility type, general cleanliness and popularity. Was gonna call it Top Of The Plops too.

I rather like the leaks and info that somehow makes its way onto efests. One of the reasons I joined this forum along with wanting to know as much as possible before going to my first one 9 years ago.

THIS. Is 100% why I started lurking here years ago. I'm a rabid festival prepper and info hunter and this forum has allowed me to indulge that A LOT. Leaks, tips, speculation, even outright lies - they all make the prelude to the festival better for me and offer a kind of extension of the fun.
