eFestivals is fund-raising

eFestivals has been here 20 years supporting festivals and festival goers. Without your support it will not continue as it has been.
Advertising used to pay the bills but advertising revenues are much less than they were.

Festivals: if you'd like us to continue to promote your event to our 650,000 monthly readers you'll need to give a helping hand.
Festival-Goers: if every visitor in just one day donated just £2, that would provide funding for a whole year.

You can donate or sign up for 'gold' (ad-free) membership, or you can contact the editor.

Afternoon arriving

Recommended Posts

This is my first Glastonbury since 94 and will be travelling by car.  it looks like I won’t be able to arrive till early afternoon on the Wednesday (between 12 and 2pm) and I was wondering what traffic getting onto the site is likely to be like and what the camping options will be like.

In 2017 we drove in from M5 Bridgewater & Glastonbury town direction. The traffic was  very light right into to car park, where to queue was 2 cars long. As for camping, there will be lots of options, especially in the western  fields. I'm led to believe the relatively new camping fields such as Bushy, Rivermeade, Diary etc still have spaces at the weekend.

If the traffic has been running smoothly, ie no accidents or bad weather, then arriving should not be too bad. Once you reach Shepton Mallet it will be busy but if you arrive around the 2pm mark the queues to get in will be minimal.

Once through the gates speak to the nearest steward with the updated map to let you know about where there is room. If you are small group then you may be able to squeeze in any site if you do not mind being very snug. On the north side Lime Kiln/Hitchen will have space. Also on the west side Darble/Pylon will have loads of space. On the south side I reckon Paines/South Park will still decent pitches left.

If you are not fussed about getting Pennards, Big Ground, Oxlyers etc then turning up early afternoon should be a lot more hassle free than the long queues of the morning.
