But the point is that they are so embedded in the current systems that we do all learn them. His point was even as a gay person he still tries to act not too gay or cringes if one of his friends is being over the top 'Queenie' and the reason he does that is that he knows that these behaviours are likely to get negative reactions from society. He described it as checking himself. 

A bit like how we usually try to combat sexism by trying to make girls do more stereotypically male things or male work. There's no campaigns to get more men to be care workers or nurses or nannies. If you look at women who have been successful it's often by acting more traditionally male. Thatcher being referred to as the only real man in Europe springs to mind. It's like we're saying the default male is good. If we are honest a lot of traditionally female professions are a hell of a lot more useful to society but we just don't put the same value on traditionally female careers. Being a teacher should be every bit as important a profession as an accountant or lawyer. 

Hope that explains it a bit better.
