Being anti ’white guys with guitars’ is exactly the same as being anti pop music.

Probs 90% of white guys with Guitar music was shit there in the 2000s at its zenith during that indie scene but i’d say 90% of pop music is complete toss too. And to me the 1975 are the love child of the worst parts of that indie scene and god awful emo music. Like the feeling shagged MCR. But why throw the baby out with the bath water? I know they’re not going to be headliners, but the likes of Franz Ferdinand make great, interesting music and are great live. Stop being such a bunch of gavrilo princips.

I dont hate pop, just shit blancmange lib dem music, and often the least offensive stuff becomes the most popular in the pop world, and artists like azealia banks who make more interesting but maybe less commercially viable stuff, and rage against the machine a little more, often become pariahs. A shame.

2013 - Stones

2014 - AF

2015 - half of Kanye West

2016 - none

2017 - didn’t go

2019 - Stormzy, The Cure

do you think you might ever make a post that isn't just crydicking about proper music and proper haircuts?

Uh ohhh, the efestival stasi have arrived. Its an internet forum about a music festival, sorry for posting about music. I’ll try and take a leaf out of your book and just post endless try hard drivel and memes.

I always kind of hope for headliners I don’t want to see anyway. Obviously for the good of the festival I want them to be booking good acts, but I want an excuse to get away and see other things. Maybe one good one a year is perfect. That said its all irrelevant as some of my friends are absolute pyramid whores who wouldn’t miss a pyramid headliner regardless. I normally relent and end up staying with them which is annoying.

That said I will happily miss Paul and Taylor, I don’t have any interest in either. Kendrick had kind of passed me by, but as he’d been suggested on here a few times I made the effort to listen to him and now I listen to him all the time. I’ll definitely be there for him.

Yes sir. 2016 was a ridiculously good year not to be at the pyramid: Sigur Ros at JP, New Order and LCD at the Other are three of the best gigs I’ve seen at the festival.

That was my 3 in 2016 , happy Days!!

In my first year (2007) i saw all 3, the only time i have done that..

Stormzy was the only headliner i saw in the last 2 years..

witnessed 17 headliners out of possible 30.

A good Glastonbury headliner is a quite magical thing.. but being elsewhere is fairly liberating.

13 - all three

14 - all three

15 - one the Who (and I regret it as they were awful)

16 - one Coldplay who I actually really enjoyed despite the hate they get, saying that I wouldn’t see them again

17 - two Radiohead and the Foos

19 - none

So a 1.8 average. I’d be happy with one going forward as I did miss not seeing any this year but the only one I’d have been interested in were the Killers and I didn’t think it would beat their JP show

2003 2/3 REM and Radiohead

2009 1/3 Blur (plus the first 15 of Bruce)

2010 1/3 Stevie Wonder

2011 3/3 U2/Coldplay/Beyonce

2013 1/3 Stones

2015 1/3 The Who

2016 0/3

2019 1/3 The Cure

Agree that a good Pyramid headliner set is beyond compare but no point going there for the sake of it. Some of the best Glastonbury headliners I’ve ever seen have been elsewhere. Even the Other Stage which isn’t my favourite venue on the farm can become magical.

Personally, I am content with having 1 headliner to watch all weekend at Pyramid, and depending on whats going on the other 2 days and who is at the top, then you just have to decide if you want to go be with the masses or not. Fairly easy in 2017 as Radiohead was the main reason I was even going. Sheeren can go die in a fire and Ive seen Foo Fighters in 300 capacity clubs a few times, so it all worked itself out. And coming from the states I made it a point to see acts that dont come here or just ones that I wouldnt normally see on their own. Im not going to a casino to see The Jacksons  for $75 usd ya know?

The last couple of glasto’s have been very tv friendly and draw even more people to want to go. If theres zero rain or mud, bright sunshine and girls in bathing suits, it looks like an amazing time. It bucks the whole stereotype of the muddy and dirty uk festival, which nobody wants to really deal with, and Theyll be glad theyre at home watching. When it looks pretty on the tele, more want to go, pretty simple. If there was zero internet and only word of mouth, glasto would likely still be this self contained event that probably still ends up full, but doesnt have a million people clamoring over a ticket.
