jparx
But are Franz Ferdinand bigger than the Foals?

But I do think a band is likely. So two outside shots from me: Franz Ferdinand The Libertines For either it would be a leg up maybe based on recent output but both have a fair back catalogue of bangers and still play big gigs/big festival slots whenever they tour. The libs did the festival a favour in 2015 and went down a storm. I think either would be less surprising and better received than the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Foals. https://mobile.twitter.com/Franz_Ferdinand/status/1196113167723761664 I agree - a band is likely. We need a band to balance things out if we are getting 2 of Swifty/Kendrick/ Macca. However these 2 are definitely not it - not a chance in hell. I know a band that is way more current, way bigger than either of those 2 and would put on a far better show. Not popular on here for some reason, but would seriously smash it - The 1975 1

It’s hogwash. You don’t exactly forget that someone like Lady Gaga has played the festival before. Probably one of the most recognised names in the industry. It’s like forgetting you booked Lionel Richie.

sisco
If this Gaga touring stuff is true, I’d be more inclined to think it’s Taylor Swift, whoever the 2nd act is who hasn’t played and Lady Gaga.

mattiloy
Okay, apologies for getting everybody horny, I was just throwing some names out there. If you reread the post you’ll see I called them outsiders, said they’d need a leg up and said that relative to the foals/RHCP chat they are worth a mention. I find it interesting to think outside the box sometimes, you should all try it. Besides it’s not really that outlandish, if theres a dearth or potential headliners, which there is. At the end of the day, a solid half of Glastonbury goers are 30+. The libertines subbed in 2015, the crowd was serious and they were brilliant. They had a big impact on British pop culture during the 2000s and made their own legend. Pete Doherty is a household name, partly for the wrong reasons but still, even your nan knows him. They would pull a big crowd again, and they’d put on a show. Of that I’m fairly certain. So maybe I’m thinking wrong because I’m thinking of the actual gig, how many would be there and the show - the only thing the libertines would maybe not do as much as others mentioned is get that many people to watch on the telly. Is that what the headliner slots are for?
