Not a single person I've asked in New Zealand has heard of Foals, and I have a pretty diverse group of friends/acquaintances. Every single person would no doubt have heard of Pearl Jam though. But again, it's "are they more culturally relevant" not "are they more they more culturally relevant in NZ."

Foals had a top 5 album in NZ though, so maybe you need more culturally aware friends.

I think it's probably wishful thinking (soz to fans of RHCP, but i don't have any intention to see them live in 2020) that has kept their name relatively low down the list, but they have to be in with a fair shout.
