They would actually tick a lot of boxes - female fronted, first time headliners having worked their way up, critically acclaimed (Mercury Prize). They’d need a killer album between now and next June to make it happen.* *It won’t happen before anyone gets argumentative, I’m just tossing ideas out. nah their last album killed their momentum innit, same with Chvrches and (thankfully) Catfish. In order of likelihood, Ezra, Dua Lipa, Capaldi, Eilish and Dave are the five I could see potentially doing it in the next five years or so, obviously dependent on how things go for each of them. Although then again Stormzy has only really been a mainstream 'thing' since 2015 so it's entirely possible we could have a headliner in 2024 that even their family haven't heard of as of yet. K2SO
I'm so confused by some suggestions. Foals baffle me. Are they big enough? In my head, they are an Other headliner or Pyramid sub... Florence and the Machine? Would she really be in line for another chance at the slot before the likes of Arcade Fire/Kasabian/Mumfords/Kings of Leon. Not that I like all of those bands, but they're just a few names from the last decade that, to me, would be more due another chance before Florence. Am I wrong? Would you say Arcade Fire are bigger than all 3 of those in the UK? I would suggest Kasabian are bigger in this country, but there's not much prestige around booking them, as they play every single festival in the cpuntry. Someone in the crowd for Kylie on Sunday also suggested Bob Dylan, which would be really cool. Anything to suggest he wouldn't do it?
