The 2019 Food Thread

Had a veggie burrito from jumping bean near Other this morn. It was good and it hit the spot but 9 notes is steep. Burger Bear last night was bang on form. The jollof rice from Flavours of Africa tasted like an Uncle Ben microwave job. I'm getting kedgeree before The Turbans tomorrow so I'll report back. That's my food review complete for now.

Le grande bouffe has let me down one too many times now. However the paella place in Williams green was amazing. 

Poutine by leftfield was also not great. For meat eaters the philly cheese steak is delicious. 

Still need to try a bear burger.

The giant Yorkshire pudding stall by the Other stage was excellent.

I had a Plate size pudding filled with roast pork, crackling, stuffing, mash and gravy for £9.50.

All tbt food Recs great so far:

paella in WG was tasty and filling, the Rice was proper

my mate said burger bear in block 9 was great

4 for £5 samosas on left of Other were tasty as fuck

pakoras in permaculture were banging

No, Philly steak is in Williams green on the way to West Holt's. Getting another one today or a bear burger. Will decide when it's a little less melty outside.

Don't recommend VFC (vegan fried chicken). I'm not vegan but was curious and it was pretty tasteless....

+1 for the 4 samosas for a fiver left of the other stage. Really good, best thing I've eaten so far.

Check out Vegan Vice next to Left Field. Banging vegan chicken.

I've enjoyed Leon's vegetarian at West Holts, Nachos with veg chilli from Tor Rugby Club which I thought was  excellent value. Enjoyed Sam's pies up at the park but thought wasn't best value for money. 

Only place I found a but meh was the vegan stall at Croissant Neuf. Samasos and Bhajis were OK but didn't blow me away but were good value

If you’re missing Pizza Tabun, the place up in Glebeland (near the Tor View platform) is an excellent alternative.

The pizza place in the Arcadia field is good too. Had some savage chips from Hippy Chippy in Williams green(?)

The deep fried chips with curry sauce from the fryer truck was absolutely filthy. Definitely works. Also converted to using a spork. ☺️

We tried a goat curry from a Caribbean food van, not sure what goat is meant to be like but it was just lumps of curried bone with what tasted like ready made microwave rice ? had a lovely chicken wrap off the chapati man though.

I can confirm (sober, not drunk food) that the paella at Williams Green is utterly fucking delicious, but unless you’re very hungry have a small. Yours sincerely, a very full person who had a large.

I wasn’t impressed by the rice place next to West Holts -pretty bland. 

The veggie curry from Ghandi’s Flip-Flop next West Holts was good . The Tibetan Kitchen near the Pyramid, the South Indian opposite Williams Green and the Mexican next to it were all well worth visiting.

But the best food I’ve had in years at the fest was the Brazilian beef empanadas and salad at the Refugee Community Kitchen In The Common. Fantastic!

Does anyone have recommendations for sourdough pizzas. And anything with goats cheese (salads, burgers etc) Also when does the bear burger place open?

Shout out for the real sausage/mash at back of the other stage - good value and lovey sausages. Simple good food.

Had the Crawfish Boil from Crawfish Bob's yesterday evening on this thread's recommendation! Amazing! Very rough and ready place, but proper tasty.
