gearbm95
I've heard some of you say to overpack when it comes to necessities like socks and underwear. Anyone have any mens hiking-grade or waterproof/active sock and underwear they recommend for the fest? Boring, but essential topic, ha... Lycra
Just wear what you find comfortable. Don't over think it. If the weather's good I'll be in my trainers so it's trainer sox. If the going is deep then a pair of normal hiking sox with hiking boots or wellies if it's v deep. You don't need go overboard & spend big. Normal bog standard do the job just as good as the expensive all singing all dancing. As so undies.....it all depends how you swing ? balti-pie
Bamboo socks are cool and very comfy. My only slight criticism is that they tend to contract/shrink a bit after 6 months or so - but I do have stupidly big feet, and do lots of walking
gherkin8r
Both if possible
stt11
I bought some really good welly socks from Marks and Spencers last year. I picked them up in the Christmas sale. I bought some Hunter welly socks, a few years ago and never used them. All the nice pairs of welly socks I've had have been, either heavily discounted, or really cheap. sedra
Long knee high welly socks if wearing shorts are essential to avoid calf rub/blisters. Cool cotton or bamboo socks - feet can get very sweaty in the heat!
freakifrank
long (above knee) socks if wearing wellies to avoid welly chaff, cotton lined walking socks are great if wearing walking boots. Aldi normally do them in spring at a very reasonable price
Kim Wrong-Un
Confucius says "He who goes commando feel fresh as daisy". As for socks, you can't beat Marks and Sparks.
Yoghurt on a Stick
I've heard that wearing two pairs of normal socks in walking boots is a good idea, as it helps reduce blistering. Mind you, if you've got a decent pair of walking boots and broken them in, then this shouldn't be a possibility anyway.

No idea how they compare quality wise, but a lot cheaper than sealskinz

juuceman
Wool. Smartwool makes great merino socks that are incredible, wicking and cooling, year round. Cotton will be the death of you if you get wet.
