Woffy
It's the BRIT Awards 2019 tomorrow. The ceremony will air live on ITV between 8pm and 10:20pm. List of nominees below. Hugh Jackman will be opening the ceremony with a song from The Greatest Showman. Calvin Harris is the headliner at the awards this year, and his performance will feature appearances from his collaborators Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man. This means it’s likely that their tracks Promises, One Kiss and Giant will be on the set list. Other performances on the night will include Little Mix, George Ezra, Jorja Smith and The 1975. Pink will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, which has not been presented at the Brits since Blur won it in 2012. At first glance I can't see many names on the list we haven't already discussed on these boards as potentially being at Glastonbury 2019 or not. I'm not sure if The Thingy (AHTT) knows if there's ever been any sort of Glastonbury announcement at the BRITS before? I can't recall one @Gnomicide British Female Solo Artist Anne-Marie Florence + The Machine Jess Glynne Jorja Smith Lily Allen British Male Solo Artist Aphex Twin Craig David George Ezra Giggs Sam Smith British Breakthrough Artist Ella Mai Idles Jorja Smith Mabel Tom Walker British Group Arctic Monkeys Gorillaz Little Mix The 1975 Years & Years British Album Anne-Marie, Speak Your Mind Florence + The Machine, High As Hope George Ezra, Staying At Tamara’s Jorja Smith, Lost & Found The 1975, A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships International Group Brockhampton First Aid Kit Nile Rodgers & Chic The Carters Twenty One Pilots International Female Solo Artist Ariana Grande Camila Cabello Cardi B Christine & The Queens Janelle Monae International Male Solo Artist Drake Eminem Kamasi Washington Shawn Mendes Travis Scott British Single of the Year Anne-Marie, 2002 Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa, One Kiss Clean Bandit feat. Hugh Jass
Also, quite a few of those voting categories need a "None of the above" option. 1

Amy Lawn
I wonder if anybody on here has ever heard any of the nominees for best song except for Shotgun which they're sick of because you can't go down the fucking shops without hearing it. I know Shotgun, and Leave A Light On because they are both played endlessly on Absolute Radio. I cannot stand either.

mashedonmud
Only ever watch after it's been aired. And only if somebody has been dragged of stage or fallen down a trap door. ?
Madyaker
I was thinking I might watch this but jesus the list of performers is fucking tragic. No decent musicians nominated for anything either bar Aphex Twin. Has the brits become a bit of a joke?

Amazing tune, although you wouldn't have thought so by the look of disgust on her face. I dunno kids these days.

I think the Brits has always taken what's currently popular (certainly in the UK) and shaped the evening and awards around that. I don't think that formula has changed too much, just us getting older and probably further out of touch with what's popular with a certain demographic. Putting Aphex Twin in there amongst that lot to try and gain some cool points is a bit embarrassing though. Doug85
I was feeling worried that I didn't know many of the songs up for Best Song and then I realised I don't give a shit about any of them who made them.

It wouldn't be AS bad if it wasn't for the incessant screaming from the audience at everything. Still, it would take a lot more than drink to be able to sit through it all.
