The 'Friday Afternoon Rock Slot'

Recommended Posts

I know this has only been going for three years so it's still up in the air what kind of acts can/might/will play it, but the likes of Motorhead, ZZ Top, Royal Blood, and now hopefully Iggy Pop, are all acts that wouldn't seem out of place on the Pyramid before this was an official thing. As much as I like Deftones, I really don't see them going for any 90's nu-metal or Kerrang! type acts for this slot just yet - they've still got a well of more suitable acts left to go through before we get to all that.

I don't expect them in the special rock slot, but Ghost have the weekend free. They're supporting Metallica the weekend before Glastonbury in the UK, and back at it the weekend after.

Ghost would be a decent afternoon Other booking. Weird enough to be a standout moment from the weekend, not so heavy that they’d alienate the audience. And a fancy dress option if anyone wants it.

Gojira playing Saturday, Sunday, Monday in the UK, probably very very unlikely but they do have strong environmental links, think they released an EP for Sea Shepherd a few years ago

Id be super happy to see Iggy on the poster. Phrophets or Rage and/or Ghost wouod be excellent as well.

That's pretty much the baseline. Needs to have some crossover appeal. It ain't gonna be Mastodon.

Hipster douchemetal?

How has this not had an upvote?

Was this not replaced with the exposed-as-a-paedo-but-booked-anyway slot once The Who headlined?

Yep. Hastily repackaged as the For-Research-Only-Purposes slot

Or the ‘I invented the internet for research only purposes’ slot

Thoughts on Don Broco? They just played Wembley and are clear Glasto weekend except for the Sunday.

Not that high up on the Glasto bill I would think. If they played at all it would be low/mid on Other Stage.

Just headlined Wembley Arena/low Other Stage

Pick one, because both those things can't be true.

It can if you’re Don Broco. They don’t seem to play high festival slots anywhere.

2nd down at Truck Festival, on the same level as White Lies and Miles Kane at Y Not.

I don't see why they would do anything other than Mid-High on Other ... or ... the BMTH slot.

Neither Miles Kane nor White Lies would feature that highly on the Other. And BMTH are a much bigger band. If Don Broco wanted to play Glastonbury, they’d have to accept a low Other slot or just stick to the fests they are doing instead.
