2019 New Music

A slightly lesser known 'Lover' album was also released today... enjoying this from Seattle singer / songwriter Noah Gundersen - mixture of his folk roots with more pop influences, but the guy is a cracking songwriter.

If you haven't heard it then give their album Deathconsciousness a listen. It's quite long and definitely not an album for a sunny day but it's fantastic.

Think I'm about caught up now from last Friday's releases, another solid week. Couple of days left before another big release day as well, been proper spoilt this month.

Loved Tropical Fuck Storms, really looking forward to seeing them in November. Doesn't have a banger as immediate as You Let My Tires Down but upon repeat listens there's some great songs emerging. Probably my favourite of this week.

BROCKHAMPTON's was good, really picks up after If You Pray Right which was my favourite of the singles. The Slowthai feature was a nice surprise as well. I haven't seen much about Rapsody's album, really enjoyed that. I think I saw somewhere it's 6Music's album of the day so more attention may come from that. Villain Park released their debut album today, more good hip-hop, if not anything particularly new.

Sheer Mag's was loads of fun, they always are though aren't they? Went down a treat with the nice weather we've been having. Modern Nature released a good debut as well, pretty much the opposite of SM. I imagine the folkey psychy nature of it will go down a bit better with today's weather. City Calm Down's new one was a pretty standard indie affair. Forgot I had it on at points, I've been pretty busy though.

 

Dunno if I missed out. Think Swift's might be wasted on me to be honest.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed with it. I really enjoyed their last album but they've changed their sound up a bit on this one and it hasn't quite worked. It's a decent enough album but as you say, it's quite forgettable and not one I'll be coming back to much.

I got stuck in that airport for ages on my own last year. It was one of the most boring nights of my life. From one of the least boring bands around at the moment I have very mixed feeling about that image.

Cigarettes After Sex also have a new song out now. They've completely revamped their sound and have moved in a totally new direction, as evidenced by the track. Abandon everything you thought you knew about them already.

I mean, I just took the mick out of Cigarettes for Sex for releasing a song that sounded exactly the same as their entire last album, but hasn't Lana got away with doing this for 5 albums now?
