dccool
Extremely sad news. Grew up listening to Buzzcocks throughout my teens and some of his songs will always stay with me.

henry bear
Very sad news, one of the greatest songwriters of the punk era, and an always enjoyable live proposition. Was only toying the other day about getting tickets for the upcoming RAH show. Got to feel sorry for Steve Diggle and the other lads too. IntoTheWhite
Am genuinely gutted about this news. Pete Shelley along with Joe Strummer were the antipathy of punk. Clever lyrics with a POINT to make. My personal view is that both were not punk, in essence, but modern day poets.... Time will tell. Really annoyed that great people pass on to early. MrZigster
Genuinely gutted by this news. Buzzcocks totally owned it at Leftfield 2015. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/buzzcocks/2015/worthy-farm-pilton-england-6bc952ee.html Part of the soundtrack of my youth. Never ever thought I would get the chance to see them. 3

chatty
Ah crap. Only saw them play in August, were good and no signs of I'll health. Just goes to show you either don't know what's happening behind the scenes or these things can creep up from nowhere. Class band, helped define an era. Huge apologies if that is what happened. The opposite was intended. I've been having issues with this site for months. I need to upgrade. (Running Vista on a ten year old computer. I can't access eFests vis Chrome these days, only via an old toolbar link via IE. IE sucks). Who called me Grandad! Do I want a bag on my head? I really need to upgrade because Steam will stop running on Vista come the new year (What a con that is. Don't start me off). Ayrshire Chris
If I had to compile an album of the best songs I’ve ever heard live then ever fallen in love would be on it.
eastynh
So sad to see a true great pass away at such a comparatively young age. He has left behind a whole host of classic power pop tunes. The effect and influence the Buzzcocks had on Manchester music is astounding. It all started with Buzzcocks. TheSheriff
In the often macho world of Punk, Shelley had a knack for tapping into his emotions and in turn wrote the perfect pop songs. Didn’t get the chance to see them in the Punk days as was too young, but caught them a couple of times the last few years always a great night full of energy. RIP Pete
Avalon_Fields
Awful news. I bought ‘Orgasm Addict’ 45 the week it was released in 1977 and first saw the band at the Rock Against Racism Festival in Manchester in 1978, alongside Steel Pulse and Graham Parker. Check out the album Another Music In A Different Kitchen, it gives an added dimension to them, with inventive and long tracks to go with the classic melodic songs Pete wrote.
