Fuzzy is 100% correct.

The Wire is simply fantastic.

Try also David Simon’s journalistic books Homicide and The Corner on which The Wire was based.

Got a signed copy of Homicide, shook the mans hand. The Curzon cinema in London did a weekend where they showed the entirity of s5 of the Wire on the big screen over 2 days, along with discussions/interviews with the cast in person there. Was a fantastic weekend. David Simon coming on stage inbetween episodes to point things out etc. I don’t really do fanboy stuff but that was one of the best weekends ever.

Oh wow. That’s some fanboy stuff I can fully get behind!

Very, very envious dude.

I’ll need to find out everything at the Wednesday meet.

So I've heard of Kosheen, Gentleman's Dub Club and Nicky Blackmarket. That's it. Nice to see some movement though! :)

Also I have read @Mardy talk about that Wire thing before and am very jealous. Only finally watched it a year or two ago and it is so good. Was also satisfying to finally realise what @FuzzyDunlop was named after.

Yes! To The Wire* **!

Yes! To their finally being a fucking announcement!!!

*Currently introducing my (very) socialist boyfriend to series two of the wire. He fucking loves it. Did someone say Trade Union?

** Given the current *ahem* uproar about a final season of a certain tv show, I will say that the very near perfection of The Wire will always be tainted by that fucking McNulty storyline of season 5. Despite this, it remains the greatest thing to ever have graced tv, season 4 in particular

Block9 dudes are staunchly independent, queer, underground-championing rebels. Sasha, though not hugely his own fault, represents everything they fought against.

I know it looks like all big DJs and big moments and it’s petty tribalism but that’s the way it goes. Sasha’s just about as likely as Virgil Abloh to displace Tama Sumo or Derrick May.

I do completely get your point but think lines may have moved a little due to the new massive venue iicon. i'd argue, Sasha, compared with the other 'superstar' DJs of the late 90s is one of the most respected, who always tries to keep his finger on the pulse and ahead of the trends. He also has a little history with the gay scene being a champion of his stuff early days.

Homerside life on the street is also from them and a excellent series. They had some crossover with law and order suv and Munch move show

I am trying really to be relevant, but I really have no idea what any of that means.  At all.

The sad reality has finally dawned on me that I am a fat middle aged man trying to be cool

... I bet I still drink more beer at Glasto than of the cool kids though...

I'm fat and middle aged and will def drink more than the cool kids.

And The Wire is single handedly the best thing that's every been on TV. Middle aged fatness is no barrier to such brilliance.
