That's good, but wasn't your point that they weren't selling well, the implication being they're not that popular anymore (supporting your 'it's not 2001 comment')? It's sold better than any other and I think any APE day to date including last year. They have of course been helped by a strong undercard though.

Absolutely. I don’t doubt that it sold better than the other APE gigs, but we wouldn’t really expect any of those bands to headline Glastonbury! If they really were as big as they were then I would expect it to be nigh on impossible to get tickets now.

Don’t start The Strokes rumours I’m on the fence about going down London to see them next weekend. Gonna gamble and miss out!

Who are the current favourites to be subbing The Cure?

Vampire Weekend, but they could be potentially be 3rd down if it's Kylie 4th, Miley 5th, Years & Years 6th.

Not that it's a massive trek, but VW are playing in Ireland (?) on Monday. I'd have thought they'd be playing Saturday. It does look more likely on paper though that it's the Sunday, given the acts we know are playing Saturday.

I was hoping they'd be headlining the Other on Friday night

Edit: I do tend to overestimate a bands popularity based on how much I like them

I would say they're about that size but Tame Impala are doing the Friday. A chance they switched things about for them to replace The Prodigy but I'd say it's most likely they're 2nd/3rd on Pyramid.

If Stormzy or maybe even The Cure as well were headlining APE instead of Glastonbury, you would definitely still be able to get tickets.

That is an interesting point. I suspect Stormzy would sell out. The Cure; could go either way.

True, however are struggling to sell tickets to their shows this year- Glasgow in particular.

Glasgow is a far smaller city though and the support is rubbish plus theres actually lots of choice for big name artists in Glasgow (all 3 of this year's headliners have played Glasgow fests in the past year/this year, plus queen, foos, arctic monkeys, liam gallagher etc etc)

Hyde Park was a European Exclusive though so that could have contributed but I definitely agree, Strokes aren't of the same size although if they kept up touring I think they could have been.

The foos tickets for summer sessions seem to have sold a lot better than the cure . Suits me as I opted for the foos as the cure are at Glastonbury. As you say the supports aren’t great either. Loads of choice this year in Glasgow even went for a father John misty ticket playing the kelvin grove bandstand.
