I’ve heard it said that the typical Glastonbury contract has a clause stating that the festival won’t unilaterally announce acts before the first of April. May be inaccurate though....

I think they will get a separate poster each, but there is nothing to say this has to come before the rest of the line-up. If there are delays they may end up announcing them later. There is precedent for some stages/areas being held back in the big one.

I wouldn’t say so any more. 2001 was a long time ago and it is still relatively easy to get tickets for the medium sized APE festival.

That's good, but wasn't your point that they weren't selling well, the implication being they're not that popular anymore (supporting your 'it's not 2001 comment')? It's sold better than any other and I think any APE day to date including last year. They have of course been helped by a strong undercard though.
