I think I’m going for the three days now.

There isn’t much I want to see on the Friday until Frank Carter so I’m going to finish work at 2:30 and head up so I should definitely be in the arena in time for Frank, Deftones and The Offspring.

Saturday is quality up and down and there’s so much I would like to see so that’ll be the best day by far. A hopeful run of Gojira > Mastodon > Killswitch > FFAF would be wonderful.

Sunday has a fair bit I want to see too so I’ll stick around until half way through SOAD’s set and then head home.

On a more somber note, got brought to my attention the other day that this year is the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory (great album). I know they already played it in full in 2014, but could have seen Linkin Park potentially playing this year if those sad events hadn't come to pass.

Been looking at the lineup fro this and think I might be able to justify a Friday day ticket to myself to see The Offspring, Frank Carter, Pup, Menzingers et al, but I wouldn't be able to drive and am a bit stuck for ideas of getting there and back (from Warwick, so approx an hour away). Anyone have any suggestions or point me in the direction to any kinda lift share or Big Green Coach type service for Download - but just for the one day?

I very much doubt you’d be able to see all of those bands as I would expect Pup & The Menzingers to clash with The Offspring in some way, unfortunately.

No worries, I know they'll likely be clashes but still enough punk bands on the lineup - e.g. Gender Roles and Press Club too - to make it worth it for me. Am I right in thinking Donnington is near to East Midlands Parkway train station, so I could use that for public transport to get in and out for the day?

I think it’s only a matter of time until it’s announced, considering everything else that’s kicking off at the moment.

sad times, but I can’t see how getting 100k people together in June is going to go ahead.

i hope I’m wrong.

I think that DL is unfortunately going to be 100% out, much like Slam Dunk. Slam Dunk is within the 12 week timeframe; DL is the week of it ending, I believe. I don’t think there’s any way it goes ahead :(

So shit when you spend most of the year planning and looking forward to festival season.

Agree. DL is the highlight of my year, and I was planning on introducing my son to it for the first time this year too.

Assuming that the June fests will be impacted, I’m considering Ramblin Man as a potential backstop. More chance of an August festival I think, though clearly no guarantees. Only problem is it’s the wrong end of the country for me!

This will be the first summer in a decade I haven’t attended festivals. It’s all I’ve known since I was 17 and it feels totally uncanny.

Be first year I won’t have a festival since early 90s. Feel bloody awful

What would be everyone's though about Download being postponed til August and being held in a different place. They could hold it the weekend before Reading & Leeds and use either one of those sites, with the same setup.

Without wishing to be negative, the chances of having the bands available will be very slim.  If it goes, then don't expect it back until next year.  Also the organisers will lose a lot of money on it, so setting up a new one without a track record for the time/location is very risky.

When download is on will be the peak of this epidemic. That means we'll still be where we are now (virtual lock down) in Sep. There will be no gigs, festivals or sport this year. Am gutted also. Just thankful I have big green spaces and woods out of my front door so I'm not going to go too insane. Can't say the same for everyone I know and it's a real concern. One thing is for sure, when I do hit Download 21 it's going to be the biggest blow out ever!

Imagine the celebration of Download 2021, man. Just stepping out into the carpark will be an almighty triumph.

Do we think that it is possible that they make it a really special event by having 4 days of music or anything else?

Given that an awful lot of the leisure and hospitality industry may go under in this time, I think that just having anything that vaguely resembles what we are used to will be a triumph. Can you imagine if Iron Maiden have picked up the bug at practice? Tere might not be all of them left come next year. That said they are way fitter than your average old fogey.

You won't go insane by spending a few months inside anyway, people do prison sentences and keep their sanity. This whole saga shows me how unusual I am because I have spent most of the past decade alone because I am an autist who dislikes socialising. My solitude hasn't caused insanity, just an extremely unsociable personality and brain fog.
