no chance man to book the 2 same headliners from 2 years ago. this could be a terrible booking. lots of people inculding me could miss next year and try anywhere else

The fact they've got the headliners sorted so early means they surely must have a good set of acts to hit us with.

If they were panic booking they would have announced it later surely?

They did it with 2013 and 2016, Maiden and Rammstein played and Slipknot did 2015, so it's not impossible

There's a very obvious difference between Rammstein  and Maiden and Biffy and SOAD.

Def Leppard & Slipknot have headlined together multiple times, Maiden & Rammstein have headlined together multiple times etc I mean the Download headliners are on repeat if people were that fussed by it then Download would have shut up shop by now.

Or it's not a full announcement, they could just announce a headliner with some of the undercard with the rest due later in the year. The announcement is probably because they are worried about Rammstein and Green Day pinching punters.

To be fair the Green Day gigs are a couple of weeks after Download I'm sure many people would look at doing both.

The Rammstein one probably worries them more.

Live Nation are behind Download and the Green Day tour so doubt they are worried about that.

1st time in a long time I've sat on announcement day with absolutely no idea who is playing. No tips or info at all this year.  It's quite exciting isn't it

Just because it's from the same company doesn't mean they are in agreement with it, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing etc. I remember Copping losing his shit as Faith No More were billed as an exclusive headliner for Download and then popped up at the 2nd stage at Reading despite both having Live Nation behind them.

Owned by the same company but two entirely separate booking teams. They may help each-other out by pointing bands who can't play either festival so soon to the other one but that's about it.

Seems believable enough and it could just be the case of releasing it too early. There's nothing there to get hugely excited about.

It's a solid line up. To be Frank. 

 

You can't have GnR or Tool every year. No Priest would be a big concern though.

Seems quite legitimate this Rock Sound release. Relates to other guesses and doesn’t seem wildly disproportionate to the acts we can expect. 

Quite a solid mix of bands but lots of repeats. Just seems quite limited the mix of bands that are booked for Download these days.
