Drug use at Glastonbury

it's not happened in 20 years  ... but I know they do read here.

As for drugs discussions, although we all know that some people at festivals take drugs, I don't feel there's really the need to discuss drugs at festivals on these forums where what gets said could help damage the public image of an event &/or cause there to be tougher measures against it.

The old bill know drugs exist and often where they exist, without feeling a particular need to take action. Things change when there's a public focus.

(just as an example, an ex of mine used to research how the old bill work. She was sat in a police car one day when the old bill pointed out to her a particularly large and well-developed weed plant at a house they drove past. As it happened the same day the kid of growers took a leaf to school, teacher called old bill, and old bill felt they couldn't ignore the report and busted the house with the plant).

If you want to discuss drug use, I suggest one of the many other places on the internet where you can do that.

It was reported in the past that what people are arrested for at a Glasto for what they had in their possession and it is never for a couple of pills for personal use. 

Someone was once on the forum who was going to court in Shelton Mallett I think for being caught with 50 pills st Glasto and wanted advice .  Persuade the judge “you do 10  a day Weds to Sunday “and hope He believes you are a huge raver 

And previously the Police have known the reg numbers of the cars dealers have been using and stopped them before they got near Glasto.

A friend of mine used to work with a lad who is now a wannabe dealer who took to hiring and borrowing cars to keep North York’s Police at bay, but he keeps getting caught in hired and borrowed cars cars and sent down due to Police intelligence.

In my experience, users and dealers are less discrete the closer to Shangri-La and Silver Hayes they are, for obvious reasons. I've seen police turning a blind eye to casual use by individuals but like someone said above, that's not who they're targeting, however I do know of someone who was less than discrete with their whole group's gear and he didn't give the plain clothes any option as he was so stupidly blatant. They didn't arrest him, they just escorted him out of the festival, confiscated his drugs and let him back in a couple hours later after letting him sweat it out for a while. There's no guarantee that this is their usual practice though.

I saw my first drug arrest last year, on the Sunday just before the Killers took to the stage.

I've never come across a tent-to-tent dealer but I'm sure there's the odd opportunist about. If you're on the look out for anything there are plenty of places to find it and if you're a regular recreational user you'll easily spot someone selling, that's unless they spot you looking first!

I bet that person was so relieved he just got away with that punishment and not a court appearance .

I can understand your concern, but I hadn't noticed many here making it seem as though the festival was awash or easy to get hold of stuff?  If they did I'd say it's not the case these days.

I didn't jump in with my post against the starting post. 

And I didn't say it was awash with the stuff, I just see it as an unnecessary discussion here where it reflects back onto something else. If you take drugs you take drugs and that's nothing to do with a festival even if you take those drugs at a festival.

No, but if people say dealers are in a certain area, they might decide to put some resources there. Not sure what discussing it openly achieves

What I'm saying is that the police already know the certain areas to concentrate on. It's not rocket science, or even a hidden away thing that only non police know about. If you go to certain areas then there's a higher chance of obtaining drugs ( or none drugs sold as drugs) than if you were right at the very front of the Pyramid stage. Everybody knows that. To believe that the police lack that knowledge or overall intelligence is madder than a mad thing on mad tablets, to be honest.

I haven't sen anyone get arrested for a few years, but it may have been 1016 or 15 that year i saw tents getting taken away , cornered off, several guys getting arrested , one complaining he only had ten pills on him. i saw security going round tents and huddled outside one listening for the NOS to go off.

 

so no one should be under the illusion that it is  a free for all , laws apply and will be maintained

Mate, just turn up, wander around in the loud dancey areas and it'll be job done in a matter of seconds. As you know already it's not unique to Glastonbury by any means but almost all music festivals around the world.

Never seen tent-to-tent sales but been offered the usual - mdma, mushrooms, cannabis - up at the stone circle.  That being said, I don't remember being offered mdma after the Weds last year so idk if they sell everything as soon as possible on Weds?  Also saw someone getting busted with a massive bag of what looked like pills in 2017.
