Could collabs and guest slots fill it out a bit?

As Gazza said last night, he had an hour last time and Ed for instance only had half an hour more than that.  New album, a collab or 2 and a few more speeches about how proud he is to headline will certainly pad it out enough.

I don't see why it'll need filling out tbh. Artist with two albums play 1.5 hour sets and headline festivals all the time; Stormzy will be fine.

Just thinking back to the dark days of mumford in 13. Doubtless he has enough material, but dangling the shiny car keys of a guest appearance would reduce risk of losing the crowd through the less well known numbers?

Just catching up with all this. There’s no doubt that Stormzy is very contemporary and relevant but it’s still a hell of a leg up to give him a headline slot on the Pyramid in the basis of one album and a hope the next one is good.

Might be bullshitting here, but I remember hearing that sometimes festival bookers get previews of upcoming albums if there are queries around booking acts in certain big slots. Maybe Emily has heard the new album and taken a gamble based upon that.

Fair enough, I thought you were meaning he won't have enough material to fill his slot at all (like The Darkness when they headlined R&L in 2004 apparently). I was actually gonna use Mumford as an example of how an act can fill a headline slot with only albums

With the way Stormzy is going I think his next album will be much more of a pop album and I'd expect it to produce some big singles. I honestly don't think it'll seem at all like a small/strange booking by next Summer.

I think that Glastonbury are buying into the whole package. It’s not just about how many songs he’s got but his attitude and desire. His social projects, publishing young poets and supporting up and coming artists. Glastonbury is a socialist festival at heart and they want to support these kind of people. Rightly so!

Just to really hit the right note get a surprise guest appearance from Kate Tempest.  Wouldn't exactly be a laugh a minute but that'd be something to see!

30 isn't too old to be in the pit at a grime gig is it?

Not at all mate.  We were in it last year in late 30s / early-mid 40s. And loved it. Stood out like a sore thumb but did not give a flying toss :D

Booked to headline off the back of one album? Sounds like someone's getting too big for their boots.

Well played sir, well played.

Old?. Old?? way to make a man feel good Charm!?

Thanks for the link. Alas I can’t watch the video as I’m overseas and despite paying my license fee the BBC are a bunch of twtas.. I’ve bookmarked it though and will have a watch in a few weeks when I’m back in the country.

I could see this happening. Emily seems to really rate Stormzy and his personality is very engaging even if you are not a fan his music, which I am not.

Grime is not for me I'm afraid, but I can see why this would be a bold and interesting booking that would go down an absolute err......storm with many many people.

Definitely space at Glastonbury for this booking so if true I have no problem with it all.

Don’t worry I’m old too as my daughter pointed out when she called my recent birthday my half 90th, the BBC are so irritating, there should be some way to watch if you have paid.
