Yeah, I don’t like to think about all the albums I would have loved but never encountered! I hate just listening to snippets of songs on YouTube etc- most of my favourite albums took weeks/months to get into, so I’m worried I’m missing out on stuff I would have grown to love.

Very similar outlook to mine. I find it really hard to judge a record on a couple of listens, unless its an out and out corker (or a stinker). But there's so much stuff available these days that you're forced to take a punt on whether to invest a dozen or so plays to see if it sticks or whether to move onto something else.

It would be interesting to read how much music people on here listen to, say how many hours per day, on average. I'm always surprised how people have top 50' A'sOTY, or even more. I reckon I get through about 2 hours worth per day, but I still struggle to get to form an opinion of more than 20 albums over a year I reckon.

Maybe slightly premature doing this before Muse drop the album of the year Friday...but here's my top ten in no particular order.

Idles - Joy as an Act of Resistance
Parquet Courts - Wide Awake
Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino
Travis Scott - Astroworld
Boy Azooga - 1, 2 Kung Fu
Shame - Songs of Praise
Brockhampton - Iridescence
Tropical Fuck Storm - A Laughing Death in Meatspace
Camp Cope - How To Socialise & Make Friends
Confidence Man - Confident Music For Confident People

Can imagine this will have changed by the end of the year if I'm honest.

Hmm, let me think...

Don Broco - Technology
Marmozets - Knowing What You Know Now
State Champs - Living Proof
Boy Azooga - 1, 2, Kung Fu
The Xcerts - Hold On To Your Heart
Panic! At The Disco - Pray For The Wicked

Need to relisten to a load of stuff because I don't really not what I'd put into a top ten past that. A lot of other albums haven't impressed me all that much.

Shit jokes aside, I can’t actually remember it being bad - which is one-up from Right Thoughts... - but also I deleted it from my library and I only do that with albums I don’t wanna listen to again. I probably will now you’ve mentioned it though.

Give it a whirl, they've gone a bit disco.

That said I liked Right Thoughts, so maybe I'm not the best judge...

This thread inspired me to listen to Car Seat Headrest again.

Damn!! I had forgotten how good it was.

It will be on my list for sure. There are not many places up for grabs now.

Obligatory mention that I'm off to see Headrest & The Lads tonight ?

As brilliant as Twin Fantasy is it always makes go back to Teens Of Denial, adore that album.

I liked Right Thoughts too....the new one nearly made my list. The song Lazy Boy lived up to it’s title as he sings ‘Lazy Boy’ 28 times within 3 minutes, and suspiciously similar to some old disco classics.

Everyone is being far too hasty. Haven't you all forgotten there is an 80s inspired MUSE album on the way tomorrow? That alone demands your attention and presumably a shoo-in at the top of each and every one of your AOTY lists. I've also seen a distinct lack of inclusion of the Richard Ashcroft album.

In all seriousness, I'm actually going to hold off on my list as i'm intrigued as to what the Good, The Bad and The Queen sounds like. Their debut was excellent.
