(Apparently) Fleetwood Mac are confirmed.

Pinkpop would be the first festival that has the band on its poster.

That is definitely legit. Great name to start with.

Been looking for a festival for this weekend due to finishing two exams during that week, so tempted to give it a go! Anybody been before that could give me a rough idea of what to expect? Whats the general atmosphere like? I have been to Best Kept Secret Festival in Holland before and although i really enjoyed the music and set up, i did find the general mood rather subdued and slightly boring.

Pinkpop is basically a big concert.

Before midnight everything ends (only an after party in camping A i remember).

Nothing to do besides music.

Camping is nothing special.

But yes, if you're into the lineup give it a go :)

Never been myself, but Pinkpop is really a family festival. Visitors of all ages, so also not really a 'party hard' kinda festival. Don't think we really have a festival that fits that description. Down The Rabbit Hole seems closest. Lowlands also always great atmosphere.

Hi, seems sweet. But what about the rest of Europe? Where is the best atmosphere, parties, "celebration" in ur opinion?

Thanks for the info both! Depending on the rest of the lineup ill probably give it a go! Me and my Girlfriend have been to many festivals alone before in the UK and have no problems socialising with other groups etc, just slightly worried that if we were to go PinkPop and the crowd keeps themselves to themselves then we wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Primavera Sound is an excellent "party" festival. The audience is very outgoing and they'll release their full lineup on december/january.

Can't say I have much first hand experience, only been to Rock Werchter and NOS Alive outside The Netherlands. Both excellent festivals, well organised, great lineups and super friendly atmosphere. Also quite civil though, but to me that's a good thing.

In terms of atmosphere and partying, one festival keeps popping up whenever I read about it, which is Sziget. I'm almost 38 yo now, so not exactly my demographic anymore, but I hear nothing but great stories about it. Also Glasto of course, Exit Music also seems to have a great party mood.

Thx for opinions, guys! I've been at sziget in 2017, that was not bad, rly great, just seeking another to make some difference. From what I heard, if it's electronic music, Tomorrowland must be great, but I'm more in rock music I think)

If what you're after is a good atmosphere where the partying continues until 7am, alongside a rock centric lineup, then Benicassim (FIB) is probably your best bet. Went first in 2012 and have gone back every year. Its popular with my friends and we use it as an alternative to a group holiday abroad.

If you have anymore questions then please don't hesitate to ask :)

Tomorrowland is sold out in seconds though.

Pukkelpop and Dour in Belgium have a good mix of electronic and rock acts. Pukkelpop is expensive though.

Pukkelpop has something for everyone and is a lot more lively than Best Kept Secret, whilst still being very friendly and it's the best festival I've been to, organisation wise.

From an interview of Festileaks with one of the bookers:

They initially had Eminem as Sunday headliner, but he fell through in December. Apparently he had plans for a European tour consisting of 8-12 dates. Would other festivals also be affected?

They had talks with Coldplay, Neil Young and Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran is in Japan, Neil Young only does an European tour in July and Coldplay decided to stay home. If one or two of these would have come, Pinkpop would've had a fourth day.

Quite a nice line up for Pinkpop, mix of old and new, guitars and more sort of electronic acts. Could have been a lot worse looking at all the other European fests.

Just got some free tickets from work for this and planning the logistics for it so please forgive the newbie questions. I did Werchter last year and I'm hoping for a similar sort of festival.

Are the festitents worth the money and are they pre pitched beforehand or do you have to do it when you get there? (Did werchter hive and they were prebuilt) and is it in a separate area or in the general camping areas? (Werchter was a separate area entirely)

Best way to get there from England? Fly to cologne and get trains or Eurostar to Brussels and get trains?

Are there shops nearby as we'll be travelling light and could do with somewhere to buy supplies nearby.

Line up looks great and I cant wait to go

I lived in the town where Pinkpop is held, for a few years, before moving back to the UK in 2016.

I'm not sure about your camping queries, as I lived literally a ten minute walk from the festival entrance, so always slept in my own bed, when I went!

For travel, I guess it depends where you're coming from. You could fly to Eindhoven or Maastricht. You can then get the train from either (probably will need to change in Heerlen, to then get the train to Landgraaf, where the festival is). Another option would be to get the Eurostar to Brussels and get the train from there - I did this a couple of times, going the other way, for festivals in the UK. From what I remember, you'd need to change trains at Liege and either Maastricht or Heerlen ( I forget which).

As for shops, the festival is on an old race course on the edge of a town (Landgraaf), with the campsites dotted about the town. There are 3 (small by UK standards) supermarkets in the town, Albert Heijn, Jumbo and Aldi. So you should be able to get any food and drink you need from there.

There are no UK flights to/from Maastricht any more. Only Mediterranean holiday flights.

You can get to Eindhoven from Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh on Ryanair (but only 3x per week to Edinburgh). Then it's an easy train train ride 3-4 times an hour to Landgraaf with one change (either in Sittard or Heerlen, depends on which train you are on, but Dutch railways has a good English website for checking such things: www.ns.nl/en). From Eindhoven station about 80 mins to Landgraaf.

You can also get the train in Brussels and change in Liege and Maastricht (not Heerlen). A faster (but possibly more expensive) way from Brussels is to get the high-speed Cologne-bound Thalys, get off in Aachen, just across the German border, then take a direct local train from there to Landgraaf. Shaves almost an hour off the time. But either way it's faster still to fly to Eindhoven if you live anywhere near one of the above airports.

Another possibility worth considering is Cologne-Bonn Airport. Think you can get there from Bristol as well as several London airports and Manchester. Takes about 2 hours from there to Landgraaf (change in Cologne Hbf and Aachen).
