Rubber Soul and Revolver were released within 12 months of each other I believe? If they'd doubled them up like the White Album, hooo boy.

Abbey Road's their best album for me. The White Album, Revolver and Rubber Soul all change places regularly in the 2-4 places. Let It Be is 5th, vastly underrated album. I've never really 'got' the Sgt Peppers fanfare. It's great and all, but in terms of the evolution of their sound I think Revolver and the White Album are streets ahead. That being said She's Leaving Home is one of the greatest things Macca's ever done, a masterpiece. Currently;

1. Abbey Road

2. White Album

3. Rubber Soul

4. Revolver

5. Let It Be

Listened to the White Album so much as a kid with my parents but haven't listened to it for years. Might have to redress that balance this afternoon.

As for best....between Rubber Soul, White Album and Abbey Road. Although Abbey Road does have Maxwell's Silver Hammer on it....

And the White album has Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

My favourite Beatles album - Revolver.

It certainly doesn't help its case. But I wouldn't say it stinks out the entire album.

It's a dirty, shitty aberration.

Something's absolute greatness covers the stink

Meh*

*And I could be considered a Beatles obsessive (but not an apologist).

His other headline Pyramid set still ranks as the best pyramid headline set I've seen at Glastonbury.. and that was with the added pleasure of some twat in the crowd standing behind me and pissing..

The man's older now but I suspect he still knows how to entertain... I'd be there..
